  1. Hi miffa, yes thats my bike mate, I got the tank cover many moons ago from ebay but I havent seen another like it since...However I did see a black one go in the last week or so, you should have been onto that? I dont know about the interchangeability of pumps from other bikes, you'll get one eventually without a doubt, even if it comes from the states (DT175E, DT175F) I know from what I've seen posted in the past that there are pit-falls fitting pumps from other bikes, namely that the teeth pitch on the gearwheel in the pump may not match the worm that is driving in ...resulting in stripped gear...bear this in mind. Parts manuals come up on ebay readily enough, as do workshop manuals. Meantime if you need any help or part numbers just ask
  2. you can get these in all sorts of sizes, you'll have to borrow or hire the appropriate lug crimping tool and heat shrink some insulation over the finished joints http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/261168202970?lpid=83&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=83&ff19=0

  6. in 1981 the oil tank was behind the RH side panel, it should still be there unless someone removed it
  7. It's a bit like giving your old engine a cholesterol shot
  8. to save work you could be forgiven for taking the motor out, removing the barrel/piston and pouring diesel/gas oil into the casing and swishing it all about and emptying quickly...a couple of times until no more debris is evident, some may frown upon this but not everyone is able to strip and build engines. This would be best done though before any further running and you've already done that. you would get a feel for roughness in the bearings by turning the magneto rotor by hand and supporting the con-rod with your other hand?
  9. you should have stripped the engine, all that molten piston is in the bottom end and the crank bearing races are open inside the crankcase, of course you'll have grinding noises!
  10. Greetings SeaBass The classic bike shows at Stafford might be worth considering (auto jumble) you just missed one !
