what dirtydt means here is compression is aided by a film of oil in the bore and around the piston / rings. Repeated attempts to start can mean that the petrol washes this oil away and to some degree the 'seal' needed to aid compression is lost so compression is reduced. Try squirting a little engine oil down the spark plug hole to improve the seal and maximise compression. Attemp to start with choke and little or no throttle

Nice little intro Kim, welcome in fella
  4. you'd have to remove the casing and also have the correct tools to remove the flywheel Andew, cant be too specific...i'm not familiar
  5. if there's any chance the chain stopped the engine turning suddenly (which it seems likely) then maybe you should check the flywhhel woodruf key hasnt sheared. If it has, this could be a reason for a poor spark
  6. you've been asked this before ...did the incident lock the engine...a very sudden stop?

I can only assume the £75 is because they are painted, it takes an awful long time to strip painted parts using paint stripper and aqua blasting, I've had quite a few barrels and heads done this way but this week I took two barrels to the aqua blasters and only paid £30 the pair, ....and they're aircooled so more work needed. I stripped the paint off myself this time and benefitted from a fast turn around. Get youself some 'synstrip' it's the only stripper that seems to work nowadays and soak the barrels for 1 1/2 hours in the stuff followed by a jet wash. in the past It's cost me £20 just for one cyl head because of the time it took!

have you got the bike home? Have you got a charger? BTW, putting the side stand down when the bike is 'in gear' WILL cut the engine, it's a safety feature so you cannot ride with the stand down and maybe come to grief on the first left hand bend you come to.
  24. One of the BMF shows would suit us well too, lots to see n do
