  1. err the head gasket is leaking....you hearing this?
  2. the head gasket is duff, you shouldnt be using it like this or you risk damaging the head. Buy genuine yamaha gasket, aftermarket options are often crap

  4. news to me, the spark test is usually done at the other end of the ignition coil, the HT side, is the plug cap a good tight fit on the HT lead or a bit loose/sloppy?
  5. try another plug, i dont care if it sparked on another bike just try one they're cheap
  6. Well yes, I said to plug it in with any brown, for example you may find a brn at the rear brake switch , shove the jumper in with this brown and then test things as if you were riding the bike as normal...lights...turn sigs...brakes...horn...tail light...tail light with turn sigs etc
  7. you are looking for an improvement, blinkers work better, tail dosnt flash with blinkers etc etc
  8. Could be dirty switch contacts, it often is to prove...run a jumper wire from battery + to any brown wire connection...and report back
  9. just check it again out of interest on the ohms x 1000 scale
  10. I assume you have the meter switched to the correct range 2k ohms (unless it's auto ranging) and it shows infinite resistance, the same reading as if the probes were not touching anything?

  13. you need to check out all your negative ground points between blk wires and the frame, start with the engine to frame connection, the rectifier to frame connection and the battery negative to frame connection...have a look around these places to see if there are connections here and that they are good connections if there are
  14. its a diode so unplug it and test for continuity one way then the reverse way, should only have continuity one of the ways
  15. my advice is dont hijack someones INTRO will q's about your bike problem...post it in 'workshop' !

  18. you fitted new switchgear is that what you're telling us? is it vey old (used) new switchgear? BTW you have'nt posted an 'INTRO' in our new members forum yet?

  20. you're baffling me now, one minute theres no spark and the next you say the kill is allowing the bike to fire...whats this thread about?
  21. is the neutral light on and the kill switch off?
