    Advice Wanted

Hi Chrissie why not have a reserve on the bike then?
  7. I suppose it will only be a problem on a fast bike that is used to its potential, its all about inertia forces causing the brass tyre valve to stress fracture, so...foamy...you should be fine with some on the pea shooter...
  8. Check your oil level, and spray all the linkage joints and any bearing surface of the gear change lever with WD40.
  9. Just seen this on another forum...buyer beware! Last year I went to a bike jumble and thought it might be cool to fit a little light to the tirevalves that they were selling there. Big mistake, due to the centrifugal force the extra weight of the light/bulb snapped the front tirevalve and I ended up on the deck. Luckely I was not going too fast at the time and I did not suffer too much damage, the bike(GSX1100F) has mainly superficial damage to the fairing etc. So a little lesson learned the hard way. I am looking for some parts if there is anyone out there scrapping a GSX1100F(power screen model
  10. They probably just cant be bothered mate, have you tried Fowlers or Granby?

  12. Hi mate. i dont know the R6 or any shutdown devices but did you check the kill switch is not on, is the neutral light on, is the clutch lever intact and any switch associated with it, have you got battery power...horn working?...you didnt say if the starter motor is working or whether it just wont start, thats me out of ideas, good luck.
  13. I reckon If that had been here in the uk it would be much worse for wear unless kept indoors, just shows how much drier your climate is. Looking good enjoy riding it.

    exhaust paint.

I agree, the blistering is most likely caused by poor preperation in the first instance, you really do have to be thorough in cleaning. I use a dremmel type thing and sanding drums, wet & dry, Jenolite rust remover, wear surgical gloves because even your skin will leave oil on the surface and finally before spraying a wipe down with a rag damp with white spirit...as they say...you get out what you put in, no truer words when it comes to bike restoration.
  15. Hmmm....whats a Noice then?...

Welcome to the forum pugrsvmille, youre chuffed and I'm chuffed for ya mate, glad you got to ride the dream bike again..
  17. Yes it is possible but least its not damaging the engine, only he knows what he's done so suggest you stick with him, if its wrong get him to sort it, as for the leak..that shouldnt happen!
  18. The blue green liquid will be the coolant for your engine. I can only assume that the garage has richened the mixture while you run in the piston. Why did it have a new piston anyhow?

    exhaust paint.

I suppose so, but the trouble with rads is you cant clean them up as they are fill of very soft and thin membranes, you will just have to do what you can and maybe blow it through with compressed air before spraying. I would buy two when they get it in at only a fiver each, like I said before you need to keep up with regular touch ups
  20. you might as well re use the oil 10w that you drained, after all it is new oil, unless it looks cruddy, then if thats too soft try again with 15w and so on.
  21. Get a helper, remove the drain screw at the bottom of each fork, do one side at a time, hold a container against the hole and SLOWLY compress the fork, do this until it is empty, then do the other side. BEWARE the oil can squirt out at a fair old whack so hold the container correctly and dont pump too hard. Then measure the correct amount of the oil and put it back in the top having first replaced the drain plugs The key is, to be sure they are empty before filling them, dont worry about air gaps.
  22. Ryan, don't be cruel to your newly bored barrel..
