Like this to undo the flywheel nut, I place some fabric backed rubber strips under the chain wrench (Cut from industrial work gloves) thes protect the flywheel and give a good grip also. It would be wise to pull off the flywheel to check the woodruff key and also to give the stator a visual check over. As nayruf said, get yourself a proper puller for the job.

Its just a vent hose and is only connected to the gas cap, the other end just exits down behind the instruments or somewhere convenient. It shouldnt have a valve connected...should be open to atmosphere so you dont pull vacuum in the tank ...Paul

maybe he knows more than me then, i should look into it further first. having said all that why do you want for the 12v, my bike is 6v and runs fine as i'm sure yours does...unless you need decent lights...
  11. Airhead replied to YB100Racer's post in a topic in Classics
so where will the 12v come from? a zener will only clamp the voltage, your charging coil will not give 12v so will have to be rewound as well as your lighting coil and ignition source coil, then a replacement ignition coil...is it worth it?
  12. Airhead replied to YB100Racer's post in a topic in Classics
so youre going to get your stator rewound and replace all the bulbs and ignition coil...Its gonna be expensive!
  13. Squared off tyres dont mean theres a problem necessarily, just that its been a commuting hack. Chech the tyres pressures though, they may be a bit low.
  14. If you'd taken better care of yersen, you could have won the 1950's class...

Before you spend lots of money on 12v conversion...Will a 12v battery fit ?

You can sometimes shortcut dismantling the clutch though, start the engine in neutral, run it until its hot then pull the clutch in and let go several times also rev the bike as you do this, finally select a gear but be prepared for a lurch forward...this can be effective to free a stuck clutch and save a bit of work...

I would say it is damaging to run with valves that are passing, this can burn the mating surfaces of valve and seat, check valve clearance first. this would fall under the category of adjustment yes.

Welcome to the YOC forum Legion, great milestone for Rossi today....

The only way you would ever see smoke from carb inlets is if there was a positive pressure, carbs should only ever be at atmospheric or negative pressure. Looks like your inlet valve (valves) are passing. check the valve clearance. ...Paul

Air leak somewhere?, when its doing this, spray around manifold boots with WD40...see if it affects revs.
  21. I dunno the bike, but if its a well documented fault why not drill and tap for a grease nipple, thats what I do on troublesome bearings.

Trawling is acceptable practice, Trolling however is to be discouraged...
  23. Dont know whether you did this, but while the wheel and brakes are out, never miss an opportunity to grease the brake cam pivot that passes through the backplate
  24. When replacing drum brake shoes you will often find a raised edge just before the shiny silver braking surface. This is residue from old shoes and water that has baked on the edge of the drum. If you do not remove this raised edge with emery paper when you fit the new shoes, they will catch on it and rock slightly on their pivots until the back edge contacts the brake drum. The upshot of all this is a wheel stiff to turn and at worst a cooked clutch. Fraid you better sort this out as well as your engine trouble. ...Paul

Thats sh1t, the builderes any builders merchant worth their salt would be storing that indoors, you should have taken it back...after all you paid a premium price for that and now youre paying more. It should be a free flowing powder.
