  2. no it narks me too, sometimes i say so in not so many words. the worst ones IMO are the first timers who begin with 'So'
  3. wise words again from Gas-up.... Dont ride in the gutter, take command of your bit of road you own it. Expect every car is going to pull out on you, make eye contact with the drivers of these cars. Be lucky and learn, your riding wont be at its best if you harbour fear.
  4. Thats like mine Are you sure about that model label, Left hand side between the seat and side panel like this
  5. And before this thrash check yor gearbox oil. And after this thrash check it again. Did you do the gearbox vent bubbles test I mentioned then that is a good indicator of RH seal failure and is easy to do
  6. are you re-asking the question vez? It's most likely to be a DTR eh?
  7. Aahh CT let me be the first to welcome you to the YOC,

  9. 1: hello might have been nice 2: is the bike a dtr, a dtmx or what? you didnt say 3: you have a spark so why do you think its an electrical issue? ...Paul
  10. running without a screen is risky, now youve told me that and coupled with you tank cleaning escapades...it's a good bet there is crud and rust between the carb spogot and the carb float valve, however to sort this out you would have to remove the carb, remove the float bowl, remove the float, remove the float valve seat (the brass thing) and its gasket...and blow it back with compressed air. I have witnessed this crud in this place myself
  11. Its possible the filter(s) in the petcock are partially blocked, hence it will potter about ok but will fail with higher demand. Not sure about the CT3 but some petcocks have a filter screen within the petcock, the giveaway is a round bowl with a hexagon on the bottom. Some petcocks have a screen within the fuel tank and would need completely removing from the tank to clean. so to test just pull of the fuel pipe from the carb spigot and open the cock...good flow?....bad flow?

    help with my bike

Dont know the bike well enough to say, it no doubt is black and will attach to a spigot on top of the engine, somewhere behind the cylinder, I expect there will be only one like this.

naturally if it's burning gearbox oil it will badly affect the running of the engine so if this is the case it's no use bothering with carb settings. as a test take the gearbox breather pipe, pour some white spirit into a clean jar and place the end of the breather in the jar also, Start the engine and look for bubbles in the jar ...a sure sign of a bad seal

    help with my bike

It all depends on what tools you have and how competent you are. you will need at least a magneto puller, and decent screwdriver to remove the side cases screws (has to be a good fitting one) along with a good socket set and a reasonable tool kit. and i would be guessing if i said it can be done without totally stripping the engine...but that's my guess for what it's worth. I dont know how expensive it would be to have done at a garage.
  15. Yes that's the air mixture screw, 1 1/2 turs out is about right. should be ok now.

it seems it needs new crank seals to me, you smell fuel in the gear oil?

Yes 2wheels it's an aircooled two stroke. White smoke causes concern though, could be a sign that it needs new crank seals, white smoke can be as a result of burning gearbox oil...ie right side seal passing. Watch for gearbox oil level falling and/or smelling of fuel. Its an old bike anyway so might just be best to change them both.
  18. Out of my comfort zone with this Steve. However if you PM me you email address I have scanned starter generator testing from my Haynes manual and I will send it you. ...Paul
