  3. Its a viral listing, just read some of the Q&A's. Good find. £1,550.00 now
  4. It could be worn crank seals, particularly the one on the left hand side (generator side) Try removing the cover over the generator ..start the engine and spray a jet of WD40 (with straw attached) through the slots in the rotor aiming at the crank seal. If the engine changes tone as you do this, it will confirm the problem if it's there. If when you take the cover off you see wetness and smell petrol, this alone will be confirmation enough.
  5. I understand they come in two 'flavours'...custom or classic

  10. Rare as NEO However I managed to get myself one last year, mine is a 'Tower' products brand and dates back to the early 80's. I have only seen one other on ebay since I bought mine. DTMX's are popular in France so it might be worth a look on ebay or leboncoin on Francais

  17. Ok Clive, look forward to the pic, any other probs...just ask
  18. Are you sure the rear is aligned properly, the alignment marks can be a bit rough and ready, best way to check is with a long straight edge. There is a procedure for this I can scan and email you if you want. As a quick check you can sight along the chain line from the back of the bike if you remove the guard. If the stanchions are bent though they are unlikely to be that bad that a crease is evident. the only real test is complete disassembly and check them on a flat surface, not a job for the inexperienced. thats why you should be sure of the back end.
  19. Ive done 125 miles on a pushbike in a day, so it should be a breeze
  20. Nice one John, I didnt know you were restoring the DT, thought it was all good. The rims, where did you find those, are they Takasago ones?
  21. Have you regularly charged the battery over the lay off? Once a fortnight minimum I'd say, better still weekly. Dont be surprised though It can be a struggle to get the little blighters going again. Any hills near you, any mates to give you a push start and help push it home if it wont?
