  1. is the PV set up right now...how do you know this? have you had a look and feel in the exhaust port to prove once and for all it's right?
  2. cant get them in backwards on a single cylinder bike jason, theres only a slot in one side of the slide, however obviously if you try hard enough you can get the carb top on with the throttle wide open because pin and slot are not aligned yes as usual a problem and no intro? 'New Members' forum
  3. some throttles have two cables too, these are a bit more tricky. you may have to slack off the adjusters in order to relase the cable nipples from the throttle body too...might be best to get the fella to fit the bloody thing for you!
  4. I assume the noise was when you let out the clutch. Just sounded like engine noise to me but with some induction nose as if you had the throttle open...or there was no spark plug in
  5. Let me know if you want to sell it
  6. Most are 5k in fact, it's unusual to find a 10k specified. While youre ordering stuff check the correct plug is fitted too, I assume a non resistor type plug should be fitted...check the manual, FYI resistor type plugs have an 'R' in the code here's a 10k cap http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NGK-Spark-Plug-Caps-LB10EHF-Red-5mm-HT-Cable-/220810886862?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33695abece so do i assume the coil secondary measures what you said minus this 4900 ohms? or did you measure it correct with the cap off? Now you have found a difference between your bike and the manual can you be sure the manual is the correct one for your year/model bike?
  7. test the cap with it disconnected from the HT lead, just shove a probe into each end, doesnt matter which way..meter to x1000 some caps have no resistance at all and from your readings yours may well be one of them so if so get a new cap with your coil. Looks like you do need a coil then...is it listed on wemoto site? whats this diode?
  8. When it comes to tests I should learn to keep schtumm, I thought direct access under a certain age left you restricted...maybe i'm wrong. It never affected me,
  9. ok we'll try again tomorrow, my time hasnt been wasted...after all you condemned your coil and as far as we know to date...it might not be faulty. Test the plug cap disconnected 10k ohms and the two tests of the coil windings with the cap not insitu...just follow the manual and report back...to be continued
  10. It will show 0.0 if youre still on the x1000 setting it needs to be on x1 like the book said, theres no way it will show 0.00, even your meter will have a small resistance in it's own leads
  11. If you have issues and are lucky enough to have a manual, at least take care with how you do the checks or youre wasting your time and mine...yes i'm tired it's late
  12. so the manual doesn not state the way you say you tested it...it stated the way I said it should be tested
  13. so depending on your age? diect access will leave you restricted or not?
  14. I only see 57 pages
  15. That barrel has been slightly ported...ie the top of the exhaust port has been moderately raised...I cannot comment further as I have never used it. It is really a job for someone with experience and the right tools, not for a novice. however rubbing the rough surface down to smooth with fine grades or wet'dry abrasive paper can be done by anyone.
  16. measurements of the ignition coil are taken between the primary coil connection and the metal body of the coil. And the secondary...between the end of the HT lead with cap removed and the metal body of the coil. What page of the manual are they mentioned?
  17. XVS's maybe slow or 'unhurried' but a moment ago you were contemplating a 250...jeez They would be suitable for a novice though...if you want to go haring off to 80 all the time well get a sportsbike...it all depends which is most suitable for you in your current stage of motorcycle competance
  18. How many TW's do you have?...you said this one is your second...I dont suppose
  19. Whats in here? I havent looked but heres a manual http://www.scribd.com/doc/43652033/Yamha-Tw-125-Manuel Maybe it gives restistance values to check the various coils...either way it must be useful to you ?
  20. Its difficult to hear through the exhaust note Josh but if you cover the silencer with your hand you will be able to hear the knocking more clearly...If it is you should replace the small end bearing because they dont last forever.
  21. wow I cant explain it £77 for that manky looking thing sometimes things just fetch silly money and this seller is very lucky indeed to have got this amount I think.
  22. no mate not at all, especially with autolube pump bikes but it's a cheap and easy way to start with your spluttering 'problem', with 2 strokes it's always wise to carry a spare. Another easy thing to do is...providing there is enough length in your HT cable, unscrew the HT cap...chop off around 12mm from the end of the HT lead and re-fit the HT cap.
  23. Guess who...Happy Birthday WP
  24. Today is your day mate, dont be nervous you'll pass it easily.
  25. I will if i can but something tell me 'swmbo' has something else planned (cant remember tho...)we'll see
