Changed my mind about Ramsbottom show and i'll be attending the MAG protest ride from Stockport http://www.mag-uk.org/en/campaignsdetail/a6883
  3. 1980 thats old! how many miles, can you do a compression test? you said you were looking for a spark but you didnt say if you found one?
  4. Its a shame you didnt ask NEO you could have had the option of testing your bike with my specially made leak-down tester and saved the bother if was good
  5. dunno kev...i might...i'll ring you if i do Ramsbottom...aye its a place kev likes to be in.....
  6. It will if you look after it, rotten exhausts are the death of many a good (old) bike, it a shame but also a fact, I thought you had ordered some already you said?
  7. I suppose it is Gary but my personal preferences are 1: plasti-cote BBQ from wilkinsons...its cheap 2: PJ1 exhaust paint http://www.wemoto.co...MPEXHAUSTPAINT/ Main thing is keep on top of it...dont expect it to last forever
  8. yes NEO but perhaps the OP can perform miracles eh?
  9. keep on top of the cleaning and painting Gary, I would recomment plasti-cote BBQ paint available from wilkinsons stores, it's cheap and good but really you need to clean and paint it every year at least to keep the rot at bay
  10. I guess its just something to do with emmissions Gary, it appeared on the DTRE's as well. Lots of DTRE's have the likes of DEP exhausts fitted which dont have this pipe and so the small pipe is removed out of sight and capped off I think
  11. so's the other bike Jason with the long defunct yokohama 3.50 x 18 and 2.75 x 21 block tread
  12. Greetings Gaz Take care thats a lot of power for an inexperienced rider Give my regards to Sharon
  13. yeah for what you want it for a DT pipe would work sure it would, the difficulty though is getting any other pipe but the original to mount right on the bike...
  14. What kind of choke is it...is it the pull knob plunger type commonly fitted to 2 stroke bikes? (yes i know it is a 4 stroke) but reading between the lines i think you are suggesting it is. This is how it works if so....
  15. ...hmm a compression test would be good might be worth checking the valve clearance on the inlet valve and a visual inspection of the top spring retainer and collets are in place.
  16. Cracking job NEV, tastefully done and unique.
  17. youd be better bidding on a tyre with a longer life expectancy than that IMO
  18. no Keith I will leave it here because it's in the correct forum...events I will also edit your post accordings as to the date ...Paul
  19. you may find the grips have a different bore size, if so the smaller size is the left one.
  20. Good lad vic, one day you may have one if the desire is strong, personally i regret not buying one in particular earlier this year...
  21. Without seeing it i would say no myself especially if its a decent trials bike now
  22. Hmmm have you had the floats out and put them back upside down i wonder
  23. The weird bolts are to make it harder for thieves...think about it i suggest a shop
  24. Try starting it by turning the fuel on and then off again, only turn it back on after it has run a while (before the bowl empties) as for running with choke on this will affect performance and add to the flooding, might as well get the seal ordered and fitted ASAP i think. Come to think of it if you get it started leave the fuel off for the first time until it dies, this way any excess fuel in the crankcase will be expelled...then go for the starting method of OFF wait then ON
  25. Airhead replied to Jroyce's topic in The Bar
my DT175MX is a bit like this at the moment, I have tried two carbs and both the same so i'm discounting that for now. Next thing is to swap the boyessen reeds for standard ones and see if thats it! you could also try fitting the standard filter back in if its serviceable...just in case the K&N is more restrictive, its and easy do so worth a try.
