  1. Assuming the fork legs are not bent Perhaps the forks are twisted in the yokes Remove the front mudguard (for vision) Slacken the RH axel clamp nuts Slacken but leave nipped the four bottom yoke clamp bolts Slacken the three top yoke clamp bolts Enlist a friend to hold the wheel between their legs Twist the handlebar until the wheel appears perpendicular to the handlebar Hopefully this has moved out the RH leg a little? Torque everything back up to spec Forks Upper yoke pinch bolts 18 Steering bolt 43 Lower yoke pinch bolts 14.5 Torque settings in lbf/ft
  2. The RH fork just clamps around a split sleeve on the axle, you should tighten the two clamp nuts up after the spindle nut is tightened and not before...did you do this Sam?
  3. Err actually the free coffee and bacon butty van has a collection box on it, voluntary of course

heated grips if you're gonna continue with that hefty commute over the pennines! bippo;)
  5. you could try the labour saving way to clean out the crankcase, repeated filling / shaking about and emptying of the case with petrol using a fresh charge each time, you'll get a feeling if the crank bearings are clean by rotating the crank by hand while holding the con-rod, It'll be an engine out job of course. Most of the damaged piston will have exited via the exhaust. so what size jet is fitted right now? I'm thinking a 250 will be about right. Take the reed assy aout and make sure thats clean too
  6. mastiff to check the fork legs roll them along a piece of plate glass and check you cannot slide a feeler gauge between the glass and the leg at various points

DT175 and DTR125 are completely different, the DTR is a much more up-to-date specification with its water cooling and crankcase induction. It's quite a good performer in its own right fitting an 170 athena will improve that performance further but would you will have extra insurance costs due to the performance enhancement? and I assume you arent on 'L' plates?
  9. me too bippo I havent seen any sign of this years sally army run so I've emailed them to ask

Dohh there needs to some slack in the cable of course!
  11. Airhead replied to Sir Puma's post in a topic in Projects
well then assuming you have a little slack in the clutch cable... 1: your clutch needs adjusting (see the manual) or 2: your friction plates are worn out and need replacing hopefully 1:
  12. I think possibly the Haynes book is wrong there myself what I think is that the pipe from the original exhaust connected to the airbox...you will see the boost bottle (YEIS) has only one connection and that is to the top of the rubber inlet manifold...confirm?
  13. yeah fair enough, It's just that I've never heard of the athena exhaust but I am familiar with their big bore kits, There is no connection from the stock exhaust to the YEIS (Boost Bottle) is there
  14. Greetings Consmos and , the DTRE is a cracking bike lets up we can get her fixed up and buzzing again eh
  15. whats the athena connection? usually folks fit DEP exhausts, do athena make one then?
  16. ahh disconnect the battery jayda and charge it up every month or so, or that'll be more expense next spring! is it carburated or FI
  17. Thats a serious case of running lean isnt it!!! whats this Athena kit isnt it an oversized 170cc barrel and head? you mention expansion tank several times...do you mean expansion pipe aka exhaust? see my signature line

yeah the WR is a proper powerful enduro bike, I cant comment on their rideability but at 29 I'm sure you will be OK, I suppose you feel the WR250 will be to small then? http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelvideo/66/1397/0/video.aspx
  23. Airhead replied to Grouch's post in a topic in Dual Sport, Offroad Bikes
But Grouch...people are telling you the jump to the 600's mentioned will be less of a 'jump' than the WR450
  24. I would take the tyre off the rim and look for evidence that there is wheel damage and not just tyre misalignment/damage before trying to source repairs or replacement wheels...especially under the circumstances that you find yourself in...ie hard to find in Sweden!
