  2. of course it's loose, you can clearly see in the photo that shaft is worn to hell on one side of the splines !

  6. in the piture is that some sort of ring that needs to be undone first? yeah it sounds like the head gasket is the problem to me too...white smoke = steam...on a watercooled engine

  8. I cant see any of it being any good after 30 years outdoors in all weathers, best to leave it be...to become part...even a feature of it's surroundings
  9. Greetings Damon, great intro and yeah the DTR looks good. yeak re-pack the silencer you will notice the difference but I wouldnt recommend that loose stuff, get the sheet packing is it seiki's forum thats vanished then?

  14. Its most likely the starter relay thats at fault, you'll need to check that out but thats just my guess, I'm not familiar with the bike other than I've seen some lol. Have you got a service manual? that would help

  16. Did you set up your timing chain properly as per the manual Pete?
  17. way too big a jump IMO john, you'll get away with it in 2 miles of course because the engine wont be so hot
  18. Take care removing the cover, the gasket will be stuck some the the inner case and some to the outer case, dont part it far and tease it off one of them with something wemoto sell the gasket on its own http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/dt_175_mx/78-79/picture/clutch_cover_gasket/
