HELP
This sounds like a reasonable assumption, if I were you I'd be sending my carb off somewhere for ultrasonic cleaning.

Dt125 lc 1980's removing oil pump nasty surprise
"I brought the bike with the pump on and this is the first time i took it out dont know what else i should tell you about this really" well at least I know now that you never ran the bike before! if theres no water in the gearbox There was water in the 2T tank when you filled it or at least there HAD been at some point, and of course this water filtered down to the pump and just sat there as it had nowhere else to go! Bleed the pump until clean clear red oil only flows from the bleed,id give it a rinse in something first, diesel oil maybe and in future it would help that you posted the full details and history in your first post, I assumed that this was a sudden occurance...why wouldnt i?

Dt125 lc 1980's removing oil pump nasty surprise
drain the 2T tank into a clear container, see if theres water in it? if there isnt you can use it later Drain the gearbox oil and transfer this into a clear container (2 litre pop bottle) and let it settle, see any water here?

Dt125 lc 1980's removing oil pump nasty surprise
Theres only 2 places water could have come from 1: the clutch case (through a faulty seal) 2: the 2T tank a faulty seal would also cause you to 'notice' the pump needed bleeding

Dt125 lc 1980's removing oil pump nasty surprise
did you just fill your 2T tank recently? what 2 stroke oil did you fill your tank with?

Hi

Dt125 lc 1980's removing oil pump nasty surprise
seems to me that you must have a bad seal on that oil pump driveshaft! not only that though! you must also have a gearbox full of water and that is whats coming through, so your water pump seal must be goosed as well! Check your gearbox oil

Things you wish you'd known when you were starting out on a bike, and things you're glad you did
Ive got a halfords pro set of tools, its pretty good, never had any issues with it...I also buy tools from Aldi occasionally, they seem OK to me and cannot be beaten on price, who cares if the odd one may break although it has never happened yet

What gaskets to get - '78 DT
yeah first check that all your head bolts will torque up to speck...that may be enough for now...if they wont you'll need a re-coil fitting like I said. Yes to anneal heat it up untill it's red then drop it into a bucket of water. It will only work with copper ones so check it isnt magnetic first In Europe your bike is known as a DT175MX For reference This is for an earlier twin shock bike, by the pack design is the same http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Noboru-Yamaha-DT175-Top-Gasket-Set-G72-/260825346496?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3cba66f1c0
