yzf 750 brakes
i think they will require some light filing. I fitted gold-spots to my fzr1000 (which has similar/the same forks) and had to do some filing for them to go on. When you do this check the contact patch of the pad on the disk carefully, as you may need to allow a clearance for the bobbins on the disk. good luck

Motorcycle Transportaion
there are a number of companies that specialise in this, but they will not be cheap (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nationwide-transport-MOTORBIKES-MOTORCYCLES-SCOOTERS-/290430821058?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_localservices_courier_delivery_GL&hash=item439f06a2c2#ht_4321wt_947)! do you know anyone with a car with a towbar and trailer (big enough for a bike, maybe partly disassembled)? its gonna be maybe £160-200 in petrol/diesel for a typical car, return, towing. Near you may be a man-with-a-van, again probably won't be cheap. Another possibilty might be to phone a local mixed-haulier and see if they do any runs to cornwall, and might be able to find space for you bike.

Big Bike snobbery
i'm now riding a XJ6n after years of (mainly) riding an FZR1000 and a few people i have spoken to assume i am a novice or basicly clueless. There is a culture amongst some riders and non-riders that not riding a superbike/hyperbike indicates some kind of inferiority. It's a bit like the concept that people who drive shiny new cars must be wealthy, but behind the masquerade they might be in a pile of debt or just leasing it. It's a funny old world!

Need Yamaha Restorers throughout the UK
please re-read my post above, i am prepared to come to your place of business and look at what you are offering - how is that negative?

Need Yamaha Restorers throughout the UK
ok, fair enough - however, you post the address for your business up here and i will personally visit (anywhere in the UK) and report back to this forum with details of the companies you have been contracted by, as well as the potential for profit for those who work with you.

the 500LC and the 500 gamma are the nearest any bike has ever been to a GP bike and probably ever will be. a bike i would truly love to own.

givi luggage
um, it doesn't look like it, compare: http://www.givi.co.uk/My-motorcycle/?ma=YAMAHA&mo=YZF-1000-Thunder-Ace-96--00 and http://www.givi.co.uk/My-motorcycle/?ma=YAMAHA&mo=FZ1-1000-06--09 look at the pannier pdfs, they look quite different. The type of givi/kappa box they fit is also different.

TRX 850
for general engine related stuff, i strongly suggest you join the carpe-tdm forum (google it) as they know lots about that particular engine.

XJ6N 2010 exhaust
btw fz6r is the american/canadian name for the xj6 equivalent.

XJ6N 2010 exhaust
a lot of what is available is a bit naff i think. Did you know that the engine is the same as the 03-05 R6? lots of guys in the USA have got R6 exhausts to go (and things like race carbon fibre engine covers!) on to the XJ6. funnily enough i got micron R6 header pipes (the serpent type) for £50 new at George Whites on the weekend and a micron gp race-can (for a GSXR1000 05) for £50. Good thing is i think i can make it work - though i do need to get a lambda boss tig-welded on. So look at 03-05 R6 exhausts too, there is loads on the fz6r forum - google it. mervyn

Happy Birthday St George
Good stuff Jim. Well at work (i'm a teacher) i put loads of Crosses of St. George up around the part of the school i work in (as i always do) and it was 100% well received. Occasionally people say that it has facist connatations (idiot lefty, pc types)and my response is they have deeply offended me - it's great watching them backtrack or try to excuse themselves. I once had someone did try to educate me and tell me St.G. was turkish, which of course i already knew, i then proceeded to tell them that most Saints were appropriated by those who most valued their actions and shocked them by telling them St. Patrick was British (probably English, from Cumberland), and laughed when they didn't believe me. God Bless England and all her friends and Allies.

yzf 750 r
there a couple of guys on exup1000.co.uk, who might sell you an ecu. To me it sounds like worn needle jets (this family of bike suffer from them wearing out). What happens is the needle rattles in the bore of the jet, and as the jet is brass wears it into an oval, this results in over-fueling, giving the symptoms you are indicating. The other thing it could be, happened to me with my FZR1000 was a coil breaking down, it would test good, run ok at certain revs but fail at middle revs, under load (that was a pig to diagnose). Trouble is it sounds like your mechanic has looked at all this stuff, so who knows?

Sorry for the abundance of Q`s but........
if the bike has electronic ignition, then yes you should be able to (some even run 'off' of the HT lead (via induction)). Wjhat you need be sure is that the product you are buying is suitable for single cylinder motorcycles and for use with 2 strokes. Most either take a signal from the wire connected to the rev counter or they connect to the ground of the coil and detect the ripple of the coil firing.

Carburetor Parts
you might find you need to phone allens and speak to them, i doubt they list everything just parts they sell regularly.

There may be someone near you who does motorcycle body repairs relatively cheaply (able to repair damage etc). If there are just scratches it might be better to leave it!

New Diversion
good to hear you rate it i've got the unfaired xj6n model, as has barkwindjammer. Ive had mine since september and i just hit 3000miles this afternoon. I think its really rather brilliant, and i have quite a few bikes over the years (still got the fzr1000 and the tdm) a video of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGBt74fvCrc

6 adults, 1 bike
that's brilliant - i love the way, the rider (driver?!) even overtakes another vehicle. best video i have seen in ages.
