  1. Here are the piccies, did at least 25 passes/famous roads this year. Been meaning to post them up, but haven't had chance. possibly more to come if i can get the card to read.
  2. How did i miss this thread - those pictures are great. must get up there on a bike sometime.
  3. Are you sure it is not the chain having a greater contact patch with the chain-guide at the front of the swing-arm? On the XJ6 it makes quite a pronounced noise rubbing on the chain-guide rubber, more so if you run smaller sprockets. Never appeared to be a problem though.
  4. You are also on wiltshirebikers? welcome either way.
  5. Well I haven't done that route - but have used ferries a lot. They usually keep rachet straps in a box/bin near the bike parking places. Some will lash the bike down for you, some will leave you too it. Some have cushions to protect the seat - i'd take an old towel just in case. I've used P&O Dover-Calais and I think they leave you to sort it yourself. If you have sidestand and centrestand, as improbable as it sounds, it is better (in my exp) on the sidestand, as the tension compresses the suspension. Where are you going?
  6. Cam, i thought you were already a member on here - oh well my bad. Welcome.
  7. Have a good trip - take plenty of photos.....
  8. Do you wear a billowing jacket and/or trousers? a loose fitting jacket that catches the air, can slow any bike down (or mean more throttle), particularly one with less than 15bhp - likewise a topbox can do the same. I find wearing my leather jacket always means less throttle (a surprising amount less) for high-speed cruising than my textile jacket.

  10. The original thread from January is about top-boxes, not car exhausts - not sure what your drinking, but i want some!
  11. Well I was lucky enough to be at Heaton Park last night to see these guys: This song is just astonishing. btw some great picks above ^^^^^^^^^^^
  12. that ain't good - weren't the jobs booked and serial numbered differently? I hope they don't do any jobs where traceability is critical.......

We get plenty of wet summers, the big problem is prior to april we had 18months of massively dry weather and, well, we got used to it. Since summer really started this week (the solstice) we might yet have a good one. Last year we were still enjoying dry sunday rides to places like Weymouth in late october- all this wet weather is payback...........

Picked it up a little earlier. This thing is properly quick.............
  16. It's effectively insured as if it were unrestricted (though you should declare the restriction), you could therefore try out some quotes on mcn compare (other comparisons sites are available). Most insures do state in the small print (the 'endorsements') that if a license has restrictions these must be obeyed for the insurance to be valid.
  17. Will, I had the Givi PLXR rack on my XJ6 and Kappa K33N panniers (they are almost identical to the Givi V35s). Sadly i never actually had a pillion on there with the panniers, but your thoughts are bang on, a pillion would have a tough time. HTH

Friday after work all being well - this will be a long week. Doing nought now, and very bored as my budget for the month is now a bit different. Already looking at some goodies. It does have a givi topbox rack (i have a givi topbox), a baglux tank cover (I have a baglux tankbag in the loft) and heated grips. Will buy a pannier rack so I can fit my Kappa K33Ns. Can't wait to max it on the Autobahn (or maybe up the M32!).

Done the deal today to chop the XJ6 in for an FZ1. Nearly new with a few handy mods. Will be sad to see the XJ6 go, but as I have no car now, wanted a bike that was a tiny bit more fun. Had a ball-ache with the insurance, when I renewed the XJ6 I put the panniers and hugger as mods: the result of which means the underwriter wouldn't cover the FZ1. Had to cancel and go elsewhere, money down the drain. The best bit was both the old and new companies told me panniers, huggers, poncy indicators and stuff don't need to be declared. Damn it try to play by their rules and they still stiff you..... ,,,,, can't wait for the FZ1, 150bhp, EXUP, very excitificated now!!!!
