    No " the oil gets black when old,,, that grey is alloy, so sumthin is rubbing, i had this once . it turned out to be a small spring had let go . dropped into the primary gear, and got mashed to a grey pulp ....so somthin has moved in there,,,

    Is it using water ? And you mean when the POWER BAND kicks in. the powervalve is pinned, so no more mention of that. Right " run her up to 5/6 k again , this time when she splutters, pull the choke ON,,, lets see if is fuel starvation... report back,,

    Pump should be behind r/h engine cover, may just need piped, wheres the oil tank,, thats a IT 175 Alright..

    Its a long shot" but how is the choke assembly....remove and inspect,,,it may not be seating properly..

    Did you put snorkle back on? and wen you adjust air screw, [ at idle] if screwed fully home = the engine should stumble. [ means the pilot jet is big enuff] if screwed fully out= revs should rise,,,if nothing happens it means the pilot jet has been tampered with, [ie too small] if your plug is black ,its over fueling, or air filtre choked,
