Direct Access Test - Cost??
thanks Goff. Hopefully get the DTR fixed up in the next few weeks and then start the hunt for something bigger. Ulster Exile - I'd get your test booked mate and just give yourself a few weeks to practice the U Turn, it will come like second nature after a few practices.......just remember to look where you want the bike to go and not at the curb

Direct Access Test - Cost??
Think all bikes should have auto cancel indicators!! Passed test at the 2nd time of asking....only 1 minor!! Now time to save for a new bike, fix up the DTR and get it sold!

Direct Access Test - Cost??
it is done! Test booked, 2 weeks to wait. The mistake? Well had just got onto a dual carriageway, caught up to traffic in the inside lane....BUT forgot to turn off my right indicator. At which point a 4x4 came speeding up the fast lane and slammed on his brakes and flashed me to pull out (was being helpful). Got a serious fault!!, but understand why. Not good but you can safely say i won't make the same mistake again!

Direct Access Test - Cost??
Went for option 2...i know it might be false economy becasue if i fail then i will have to pay more but figured if i get in quite a bit of practice between now and then, and maybe spend a few hours riding a mates YZ426 i won't need the days transition training. Will let ya know how i get on!! Time to revise now for the theory and hazard perception test. Bit miffed as to why i need to do theory again, i passed it when i did my car test....surely just another way of them making more money!!

Direct Access Test - Cost??
hello After hearing the good news that the new test has been delayed, and the fact i am annoyed at my mates keep pulling away from me as i only have a 125, i decided it is time to get off my arse and take my full test. Called the place that arranged my CBT and was quoted the below for direct access....is this too expensive? option 1 - £590 x1 day 125 - 500 training x2 days 500cc training test on the 4th Day Option 2 - £490 Same as above without the transition day from a 125cc to a 500cc. Price includes all training, teory test, practical test and they book everything for me (quite hassle free). Seems expensive though?? plus £130 i think it was for a re-test if (or should that be when ) i fail What do you reckon?

DT125R
yeah, i'd agree. Definitely sounds like the power valve, mine does it when you first turn the ignition on. Try taking the cover off of the power valve and see if it is rotating when you turn on the ignition and if the sound matches the rotation....if you know what i mean.

dt125r how do i remove the snorkel from the air box?
Hello You need toremove the seat, you should then see it....then just give it a good pull and it should come off. I have heard mixed feedback at whether removing it makes any difference, would be interested to hear what you think. I did mine but also did other mods at the same time so hard to judge if is made any real difference. One thing is for sure is that once you have removed it, if you do a lot of offroading in dusty conditions, your air filter will get dirty very quickly!

DT - What are the MOT rules
Thats not good. I presume they have to be fitted if they have previously is the rule? My mates WR doesnt have them but it passes the MOT? Think i'll just ring the guy who is gonna do it and see what he says. I will be sure to let you all know though!

DT - What are the MOT rules
Hello My bikes MOT is due next month, its a '98 DTR and when i first got it i removed the indicators and mirrors (Thought i would remove them rather than them getting smashed off whilst offroading ). What are the rules when it comes to the MOT, i don't think the mirrors matter but on the indicator front, obviously the switch is still there as are the indicator lights on the dials, will it fail as a result? I have been told i need to remove the switch and paint/tape over the indicator warning lights on the dials for it to pass....is this correct??? Any help/advise/sites to visit for info would be appreciated Cheers

yamaha dtr 125 starting problems
Had a similar issue, went to strip the carb down and screw heads sheered...the only way i could think of getting them off was to drill the heads off (set the drill so you are drilling anti-clockwise i.e. as though you were loosing the screws it also loosens them)....it works but BEFORE you do it make sure you have some spares to put back in their place. Also maybe wait to see if anyone has any less destructive ideas Also, make sure you don't slip and mess the carb up!!!!!!!!
