Bloody Bike!!!
THE SAGA CONTINUES!!! (I'll try and not make as many typos in this post as the first) So......the brake failed on Tuesday and it wouldnt start. Sunday morning woke up and attacked the brake. Opened everything up again and gave it all a good clean, rebled with fresh fluid. Brake works a treat! Fixed an inline fuel filter, all seems fine. Go for a little ride to make sure everything is ok. All seems fine, so i take the long way home......bad idea....the bike breaksdown! Won't rev past 2000rpm with the throttle fully open, tons of blue smoke pooring out the exhaust, the bike aint going anywhere and i'm miles from home Call a mate who lives near by and get him to have a look, no joy. So i start problem solving, after removing the carb found out that a small piece had come loose inside, screw it back in and hey presto the bikes fine!!! This bloody bike is a pain in the arse, I feel just to get a new one and stop messing about!!! By the way, the fuel filter didnt work properly either, once connected to the carb the fuel wouldnt flow! ....so its back to the direct tube!!

Which Air filter??
hmmm......interesting.....very interesting........

Bloody Bike!!!
It was bled quite recently, a couple of weeks ago i think. But that could be a possibility. I'm going open up the caliper again and have a look. I'm also going to change the brake line because its quite old and may have never been changed in the bikes entire life. MandP.com have a 20% discount on goodridge metal braided lines until the 29th Jan.

Which Air filter??
I'm assuming my bike is restricted, it bottoms out at 7000rpm at about 60-65mph. Would derestricting be the same on my LC as on an R?? ie -Exhaust restrictor removal from manifold -Rejetting -Race needle/reed -dep exhaust -air filter No sure i can be asked to spend money on the bike to gain another couple of mph. I'll do my licence and just get a bigger bike, one thats meant to go fast! Might do the exhaust ring removal (cus its free), what will that do to performance on me old LC?? (can't believe i'm thinking derestriction already, after getting an MOT on SAT and falling off on TUES!!, must have the biking bug)

good idea, i'll have a look into that. Thanks

Which Air filter??
My air filter is in a really bad state i think its about 15 years old, hence i need a new one. I'm thinking i could get a standard filter element or a K&N type filter to go straight onto the carb. Will i have to rejet if i get a K&N type filter? Also my airbox is cracked, i've manage to seal it back together but it could still be leaking. So the question is Which Air filter?? Standard or K&N type?? (

Bloody Bike!!!
Thanks people, just woken up today with a little spain in my wrist and a sore knee, nothing life threatning. I dont think theres any damage, i was only going really slow, but saying that, it was quite dark. hopefully i havent bent the front disc or handle bars I'll go bloody spare if i have!!! they bike not starting did seem fuel related. What i thought was a dodge was there was no overflow coming out of the carb when trying to start it. So i concluded that either a piped was blocked or the floats werent working working correctly. It would try to tick over but when i gave it a little throttle it just cut out. It seemed like the carb was getting flooded. It seemed a bit strange cus it was running fine the night before. Are these the type of reliablity problems people complain about with 2 strokes compared to 4 strokes? Thoughts??

Bloody Bike!!!
As you know, i've just got my bike sorted. Well all was good, done about 70miles on it driving round london. The only problem was my fingers were freezing about 430pm today i thought i'd pop to the motorbike shop and get some inner thermal gloves and maybe to nice winter ones .....anyway the bike would start!! Took checked the lines, checked the plug, no joy! ....so i thought F@~K it, there must be something wrong with the carb. Took it to bits quickly and put it back together and the bikes starts but revs like a bitch. Adjusted the cable and now all good. now, i'm going down the road thinking the bike feels sluggish, i conclude in my head that its cus i've messed the carb and its running a bit lean...........NO......i'm going left on a round about and the bike just falls out from beneath me (like the road had ice on it) but no bloody ice and a dry road!!! after rolling down the road and banging my knee, i get up and find out the front brake is seized!! Can't push it anywhere cus the front brakes on, so i had to knock on a random door and ask for some pliers to release the bleed nipple to let the pressure out! very pissed off, no idea why its done that, gonna need to have a look at the weekend why didnt it start?? Why did the brake seize?? when will this end???? (no need to reply to these questions, i'm just venting) BLOODY BIKE!!!!

 .....i need to watch what i say here! ".....12 galvinised nipples......" LOL

So close.....so very close!
Hi people, I got my spoke today, i paid £12 (delivered) for 10 galvinised spokes and nipples! Gonna whack 'em on on the weekend and go for an MOT!! ..they'll probably tell me theres something structurely wrong with the bike and it will never pass an MOT!! LOL... One quick question...A parking light isnt required for MOT is it?? Full beam and dipped are fine, its just i removed the parking light cus of a dodgy connection. Thoughts??

So close.....so very close!
I found a company that specialises in rebuilding wheels. http://www.central-wheel.co.uk They sell packs of 10 for reasonable amount.

So close.....so very close!
Thanks dragon lady, i gave them both a call but no luck. As jimjam suggested trying another make, I managed to find 1 spoke on ebay for a honda CG125 which is rear drum brake and an 18inch wheel, so fingers crossed. If it works then i'll see if i can get another from a dealer. As a last resort, i've got some spare front wheel spokes, so i may cut them to length and make a tread on the end and see how that goes! Very frustrating! Thanks again people, i'll keep you posted on my progress.

So close.....so very close!
Finally my bike is nearly ready for its first MOT in 15years! I've brought it back from the dead with help from many in this forum...... ...however as always things are never simple! I'm missing 2 spokes from the rear wheel! 2 SPOKES!!! which is an MOT failure i believe. Spoke to Yamaha, and they dont sell individual spokes, only packs, which means spending £25 on a load of spokes i dont need! Does anybody have any spare knocking about?? I've never been so desparate from some thing so minor! (DT125LC Mk3 18inch Rear Wheel Spokes)

No pressure in the front brake!
SORTED!! The brake works a treat! i took the caliper to bits again to ensure it was nicely greased and the piston moved smoothly. I also pushed the cylinder all the way in to reduce the amount of air in the system. Then i attached a long piece of clear hose (1.5m) to the bleed nipple and sucked the piped, whilst holding the caliper above the master cylinder. Then pumped the brake lever and the fluid started to flow! After that it was smooth sailing just bleed the brake as usual! Simple stuff, another satisfied customer Thanks again to all those who made a contribution!

No pressure in the front brake!
I gave them some greasin, mainly because i wanted to ensure that the main caliper cynlinder moved smoothly. I havent messed with the brake as yet, i'm working on some other bits today and will give the brake some tlc tomorrow. Thanks again, and i'll let you know how i get on.

No pressure in the front brake!
I got all the new bolts and bleed nipple. Now when i try and bleed the system, theres still no pressure! I'll tell u what i'm doing... 1. Clear tube round the bleed nipple 2. Open Reserviour, fill with fluid 3. emerse the other end of the tube in fluid 3. Slaken bleed nipple half a turn 4. pump the brake The fluid just sits in the reserviour mocking me! I know its laughing at me! why does it torment me so!!  shouldnt the fluid be pushed through the system? :?: :?: what am i doing wrong? thanks
