78 Yamaha XS500 C OEM Chain Guard 1A8-22310-00-00 MY124 | eBay E-Bay and Google are your friends... P.S. You wrote: 1A8-22310-00-00 It should have been: 1A8-22310-00
  3. No, no... I have a slightly dodgy crotch seam on my waterproofs, no pond forms, it just soaks straight in! I dunno how old you are Ray, but occasionally (as you get older), you just wanna walk out the door and sit in the car. Some days, levering on all that gear is just a pain in the ass for the short commute! lol.
  4. Welcome in! And I'm pleased to see you've subbed to be a full member too! Well worth the few units of whatever currency you use... lol. We're not terribly busy here, but there's always someone around to have a poke at answering questions.
  5. This is easier for my Thunderace, all years are the same! lol
  6. I can't help you with the diagnostics, but, if you've bought it to 'restore' it. Then you might as well change the exhaust for the right one, you're going to have to do it at some point... ALWAYS provide photos/videos!

Hi guys, I need recommendations for crash bobbins for a Gen1 Hayabusa. Something preferably both pretty and most of all useful! Ideally from personal experience, we all know how some of these 3rd party items look good, but work crap..! lol Cheers in advance & all that...
  8. The first issue is safety, get that chain tightened! If you have an issue with a CDI, you're probably already into 'take it to the shop' territory...

So this is a 1999 R1? There's a big ass fuse on either side of the starter assay. Try those first.
  10. Aaah, yeah, that will do it lol. Should be an easy job... Your best bet for a refurb kit would be a Yamaha dealer, and just do it yourself. If you have the original hydraulic lines, there's also a possibility that it has deteriorated and collapsed inside, but that's fairly unusual. Of course, it's also possible the master cylinder has failed...
  11. Congratulations! Well, the main thing is that you have fun riding it..
  12. I can lock it if you want NEO, but, maybe we need a 'How To' section and you could transcribe the important bits there?

Welcome in. We aim to try... lol
  14. First option, check your chain is nice & clean & lubed. This one has confused me before now lol.
  15. Interesting, everything I'm finding is that the FZR went out of production in 1994...
  16. But, is there ACTUALLY air in it? Have you re-bled it and there's definitely air? And how soon did the air come out? As in, did it come from the calliper end or the cylinder end?
  17. Yaar, tis a distinguished colour!
  18. Trust this at your peril... After a quick 2min google search: Capacity: 425 cm3 (15.0 Imp oz, 14.4 US oz). Oil Level: 143 mm (5.63 in) From top of inner fork tube Fully compression without spring. Grade: Fork oil 10WT or equivalent. If that means anything to you. Taken from the 1987 FZR1000 service manual
  19. Yeah, don't worry about other bikes, we're not elitist, just look at my profile on the left lol. I've been riding since I was about 10 (1978ish) on a Yamaha TY80 on the beach... And as it says, nothing legal from then till my Thunderace about 5ish years ago! I'd like one of those t100s. What colour is yours?
  20. Hihi, welcome in! Being a full member is mainly the ability to chat in the extra members only section and getting a discount on your Bikesure insurance... But, considering the low, low price, why the hell not? rofl
  21. Unless someone has specific information (having swapped, or tried to swap one), your best bet is to contact Yamaha. Or... Failing that, I tend to go on Fowlers and look at the part number for the two items. If the numbers are the same, it's the same item, if not, then it's probably not going to be a straight swap (if at all).
  22. Don't get me wrong... No matter how comfy and relaxed the Thunderace is, it still IS a full fledged old school superbike!!! Something to take it gently with at first!

The obvious choice is to take it to 2 or 3 different places, and see if they all say the same thing...
  24. Tomintoul is e-mailing me a copy, I'll harvest e-mails from those that have shown interest and forward it along... Thanks Tomintoul!
