How to ride on UK roads like a gentleman? Your advice please.
Don't be confusing Yorkshire with the UK, especially with a native Yorkshireman 'appen.

Car Insurance?
Don't mention insanely high premiums, I've spent the entire day looking for insurance quotes for a 19 year old who passed her car test yesterday. No wonder so many drive without insurance. I reckon a fifth of her income will be going on her car, and that's with me and the wife buying the damn thing.

growing a beard
My first tat was done by Tattoo Jack, on West Derby Rd in Liverpool. Can't say it was that painful but it was on my bicep, one of the fleshier bits of my body. I took my daughter to a jobs fair for Camp America in Liverpool last week and was amazed to see that the studio is still there, although now run by his son. That made me feel old.........

They have to keep a low profile these days in case they're mistaken for hipsters. I was in Islington last month and every second bloke I saw was sporting some wispy face creation. Bah humbug.....

New toolbox
Nice. I wish I had a garage to keep my tools (and the bikes in). Changed the battery on my Viggie today whilst standing in 4" of snow. Not the ideal time to choose but there have been dark mutterings from 'er indoors about the amount of bike spares lying around the house lately.

first snow
-2C here last night. Consequently the battery in the Viggie was as dead as a doornail this morning. What with gritting as well i think I'll be retiring the bikes for a few months

Wiring loom issues
You'll probably find people more willing to make suggestions if you pop over to the new members section of the Forum and post an introduction. Tell us a bit about yourself as one hit wonders who appear with a problem then disappear immediately they have a solution make us feel used and dirty - a bit like one of Foamys socks. Should you stick around long enough you may even get that last reference.

AWD Turbo Diesel Motorcycle
Only a wild guess but I'm thinking he isn't running a DPF in this exhaust system. Whilst it must have a turning circle measured in furlongs it'd be worth riding just to piss off Caroline Lucas.

Help with my NVQ please
Sadly as he died in 1961 he didn't live long enough to see his 'misquoted cat' adorning T shirts the world over. I'd like to think that had he lived longer it would have annoyed him immensely and he could have spent his twilight years accosting strangers attempting to explain what he actually intended the cat to demonstrate.

Help with my NVQ please
Actually that's not at all what Schrodinger said. The cat is actually either dead or alive, whether or not it has been observed and he was using this thought experiment to highlight the limits of the 'Copenhagen interpretation’ of quantum mechanics, which states that a particle exists in all states at once until observed.

UPDATE 12 months and another 4500 miles down the line. Nothing has fallen off yet and the plastic seems very resilient. The sidestand switch developed a very occasional fault 3 months ago where it would fail to register that the stand was in the up position. Fixed with a FBH. Other than that it continues to be a delight. A genuine toss up as to which i prefer to ride this or my Viggie.

Help with my NVQ please
As others have said battery technology is not (yet) up to the job. There are some theoretical advantages to electric power - all the torque is available from practical zero rpm no need for gearing, possibilities of direct drive and higher energy conversion efficiencies. But it all falls flat on it's face given the current levels of energy density that cost effective batteries presently pack. Lithium-air batteries are at least 10 years away from commercial introduction even allowing for optimistic estimates. Fuel cells have the necessary energy densities but unless the Hydrogen they are fueled with is produced from renewable energy then they aren't remotely 'green'. I may be interested if they can make one that sounds like a V twin and has a driven eccentric cam to generate vibrations otherwise it would be as interesting to me as riding a tea trolley. Good luck with the NVQ

gutted for my Daughter
I've got 4 daughters, in my experience it doesn't get any easier I'm sorry to say. Obviously with me as an example my girls expect the best out of their blokes (despite my wife explaining that I'm really a bit of a disappointment to her) and are usually let down. My eldest had her heart broken about four times before landing her present chap - who seems a top bloke apart from the fact he's Welsh.............
