  1. Several years ago the late Mrs meat and myself gave her dad a garden bench for his 80th birthday, Well years roll on and now the house is up for sale, the bench which had been neglected for several years was looking a bit sad but I took it home and spent a day doing a few repairs and a giving it a couple of coats of paint and now sits in my garden where it gets the afternoon and early evening sun, just right to sit down and have a beer or two when I return after a day out on my bike.
  2. Good job you must be chuffed.
  3. Good idea mate as they are both full of arseholes, A roads can be much more fun. Enjoy your new big toy, I can just imagine that big grin that's gonna split your face.
  4. I'm sure your right about Guy Tommo and I will certainly watch it if he does indeed make it to the starting grid.
  5. As a kid I lived very near to Brooklands race track, spent a lot of summers days playing on the banked part of the track and avoiding what was then the Vickers Armstong security staff. Thought I would go back as a paying visitor ( too old to dodge security ) and take a look at some of the bikes, there was an old police patrol car there today, the current owner told me that it was based near the Ace cafe and spent most of its time chasing " the ton up boys" as the raced along the north circular, hope it didn't catch too many.
  6. Glad to see your back on form dewps
  7. You think you had it badhttps://youtu.be/Xe1a1wHxTyo
  8. My daughter came down from Birmingham yesterday and told me that she was taking me out today for a birthday treat but wouldn't tell me where, turned out to be Thorp park where I haven't been since the kids all growed up on me. Think I was the oldest bugger there but I had brilliant day, went on all the big rides including "stealth" which goes from 0 to 80mph in 2.3 seconds which is a dam sight faster than my bike, now I have a couple of hours for my stomach to settle before I take the family out for a mexican.
  9. Just shows not everything on ebay is crap
  10. Cheers every one late 60's is not that old ( but still remember when I thought someone who was 30 was on deaths door) Got to be a geared bike for me, rode my daughters twist & go many years ago and it scared the shit out of me. Cheers slice, just remember that you are only a few months younger than me so you will right behind me mate.
  11. Ha ha Tommy cool balls. You know we just love pics and a pic of you on a bike in a kilt would give us all a laugh, just promise it will be a stationary shot so the kilt is not flying up showing us all your tackle
  12. Welcome Gee, I take it your a bit shy then.
  13. It's my birthday today, I may be getting old but no fucking way I am grown up
  14. I moved up from my 535 to my xvs1300 some 16 months ago, for my that was a big enough jump and took a while to get used to the bigger bike. Most of my riding is on the open road where the 1300 is great to ride but if I had to do a lot of town riding I think I might prefer the smaller 950. IMO the 1300 is a fantstic bike and I love it, and as Tasky says there is plenty of low down grunt and there are times I do go from standstill to fucking hell fairly quickly. I have never been on a 950 so I can't compare the two bikes, but if you are a sensible rider and take it easy at first you should be fine on the 1300. Do take the time and follow Taskies link as there is some good info there. What ever you choose stay safe and have fun.
  15. Nice bike slice, enjoy it mate
