  2. A sad conclusion this week to the search for Steven Fox; missing since 31st Jan, the police found his body last week in the river Nene. They believe he had gone into the water on the same day he left his home. Please say a prayer or spare a thought for Catherine and the children; James, Charlotte & Peter. Thanks for pinning my appeal to the top, unfortunately in the end there was nothing anyone could have done.
  3. Thanks for the kind comments and for sticking my post, thanks all for the views please spread the word, thank you.
  4. My Wife's, Cousin's husband, Steven Fox went missing on Friday Morning (31st January) from Wisbech in Cambs..anybody in the area please take a look at the photo on either of the local media links. Thanks, just clutching at straws http://www.wisbechstandard.co.uk/news/daughter_s_dramatic_plea_please_please_help_find_my_missing_father_1_3273205 "Charlotte Fox said her father left home without money or a car or a phone. She said of her father Steven: “He is said to be wearing dark denim jeans and a blue National Geographic fleece and some brown shoes. “He is just over 6ft and has dark thin hair with a double crown. He has a few grey hairs but is more noticeable in his eyebrows. “He is 49 and is suffering depression and post traumatic stress. He has autistic tendencies. Police have been searching all day, helicopters and special teams.” Charlotte has blitzed social media to encourage anyone who might have seen her father to contact police. A Cambs police spokesman said Mr Fox has links to Wisbech and March. A police spokesman said: “We are increasingly concerned for Steven’s welfare and would urge anyone who has any information about his whereabouts to call police.” Anyone with information should call police on 101. http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/update/2014-02-02/search-for-missing-wisbech-man/ Police are appealing for the public's help to trace a missing man in the Wisbech area. Stephen Fox, 49, of Clarkson Avenue, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, has not been seen since about 7am on Friday 31 January. 5. Commuting home last night, along the A316 just outside of Richmond, I drew up at the lights next to a guy riding without a helmet! He was riding a three wheeler, not the chopper type trikes but a commuter type bike, one wheel at the back two close together at the front (not sure what they are called). He said he'd been stopped a couple of times but it was legal. I think he's mad, my motto is "Better Hot than Dead" :-)
  6. Welcome Frostdog, hope the CBT went well and that you're out enjoying your bike

Thanks for all the replies and the advice; unfortunately it was still raining even when the bike had cooled, perhaps I should have left it uncovered until the morning and let it dry then? I will certainly invest in some Scottoiler ACF-50 although unfortunately everything is very much enclosed since I have a full fairing and a big radiator at the front too. I commute to and from work all year round so there is going to be many a dark/wet evening yet to come. I will make sure if I do put it away whilst it's still raining that the cover is off the ground and I like the idea of the cover you linked Twincle, please let me know how your neighbour is getting on. It was something I'd considered before I bought my bike but then could not find one big enough to cover the bike with the top-box on, since actually getting the bike I've found the top box comes off really easy (doh!) Anyway thanks again, all advice is good advice Cheers Steffan
  9. Great looking bike, welcome

Loved the video clips Noise, and if I was brave enough I'd have some traditional Japanese artwork it looks great but my Mrs would not be so keen and my kids say they'd leave home if I did ....hmmmmm

My bike has to live outside at night and I rusted my old YBR by always putting a cover over it as soon as I got home. With my nice new XJ6F I'm allowing it to cool off first (which in the recent warm weather has taken more than an hour). Anyway tonight it's raining so the bike is wet, I've let the bike cool off and have put the cover on (an Oxford Stormex). Tomorrow I don't need to use the bike and it is going to be raining for some of the day. So should I take the cover off as soon as it's daylight to let it dry/get more wet and hopefully dry again i.e. give it more air...or should it be okay slowly drying under the cover? Thanks in anticipation of some wisdom (Next post "wipe on - wipe off" )

Done, 949 left to go. Have great weekends everyone
  13. My XJ6F is only two weeks old..so at the moment I sit proudly on my new ride (will put picture up soon) I usually put the bike in neutral especially since like one of the previous replies, I had trouble being certain of neutral with my YBR. I also try and look at the traffic lights of the crossing traffic flow and checking my mirrors for other bikes, ready to move forward and over a bit if they need more space. Playing with main and sun visor too. Finally...... the XJ6F produces a lot more heat than my YBR, so in the current weather I'm trying to sit up and away from the heat rising up from the front and wondering why an exhaust that outputs near my right leg is a good idea. (looking forward to being nice and warm in the winter though . Nice question btw

Congratulations, had to retake MOD 1 myself three times; just could not bring myself to negotiate the avoidance hazard at the speed they wanted me too kept missing 48kph, 49kph etc. Good luck with MOD2!

I was passed by a red Ducati Monster today, on the A4 by Earl's Court, I did look twice but the rider was not the one in the picture
  16. Thanks for the welcomes everyone Yes Tezza I believe we are close neighbours; think I saw a post of yours talking about Farnborough? It's just down the M3 from me and back in Feb 2010 that's where I ended up taking my stage 2 because the snow at the time meant the examner could not get to the test area closest to me. Luckily the DVLA said if I could get down to Farnbrough within a couple of hours I could take it there. It was a very cold ride on the A roads on my YBR but a much nicer test circuit on which to take my test . The ride back did not seem half as cold and the bike was lighter without the L plates .
  17. I'm fortunate to be ordering an XJ6 Diversion F next week, fitted with a 39L top box. Given that I commute all year round I wanted to invest in something more than a throw over cover and was looking at Bike Barn or Bike Home(?); the fabric covered metal framed, drive in pull over ones. Unfortunately I can't tell from the pictures on the adverts which size I'd need for the cover to clear the top box at the back. Does anyone out there already have the same bike, with a top box (39L or more) and uses such a cover? If so please would you recommend the make and let me know what size to order? Alternativeloy has anybody seen any of these at retail (in London or neighbouring counties) since it would be much easier to ride up and check it fitted instead of purchasing off the net? Thanks for your help Regards Steffan
  18. Hi there everyone! My very first bike, along time a go, was a little FS1E (P reg, pre restriction, 50mph downhill with the wind behind etc.) Following a long break from biking I finally gave up the trains and tubes and have been commuting for the last five years into central London on my trusted YBR 125. Next week, at long last, I get to order an XJ6 Diversion F I've noticed already some pictures posted by members with the new colour scheme and look forward to adding a photo once I take delivery of mine. (Went to Hastings as a pillion on Bank Holiday Monday, next year on my own bike ) Looking forward to being a part of this club Cheers Steffan
