  1. If my wife's anything to go by, if you don't do it right first time, you've only got to do it again!! Great encouragement to get good!
  2. Sounds great! Got a real 'driving' sound to it. Some real raw talent coming through. Do they do any gigs?
  3. The only time my visor is up is when I'm standing still! Little bugger came straight up underneath my lid. The bottom if my lid is about 2" longer and 1" lower than any of my previous lids so comes below the collar of my jacket. I couldn't believe how good an aim this little bastard had!
  4. So riding to work this morning and a sneaky bugger decided to fly in under my helmet! In a car, the missus panics cos she can't see where it is. This morning I could see it very clearly sat on my nose at 50mph!! Slowed down to 30 and lifted the visor and the little shit then sat on my eyebrow. Talk about adrenalin rush as I stop the bike and remove my lid! I had 2 bikers stop and ask if I was alright one a yammy, the other a BMW! Can you believe it? A BMW rider actually stopping and caring???? Luckily at o' Christ hundred hours there were hardly any cars out. Anybody else had issues with wasps in their helmet?
  5. First off, I'm not a mechanic, but I had a similar problem with an old lawn mower (I know it's not quite the same!) after stripping the carb and cleaning etc, the problem was the fuel cap which was blocked and causing a vacuum. It stopped the fuel flowing at low revs. Ever since then after spending several hours I always check this first - the very start of the fuel journey!
  6. Today is now 3 days consecutively that I have ridden on wet roads and I have not had anybody pull out on me!! I think I may buy a few lines on the lottery!
  7. Hi Rich Is she cutting out after she's warmed up? Only ask cos my SR used to be hesitant at restarting after fueling. I also noticed that whatever the weather I never had to use choke. I ended up stripping the carb and cleaning it thoroughly. When I reset the mixture screw I had it running weaker than the recommended (can't recall how far out I unscrewed it but was about an 1/8th less than it should be). I now need to use choke first thing in the morning and hardly ever have issues restarting her when hot. I do also have the idle unscrewed a fraction more than the recommended but I am getting just over 80 mpg. I should say that my mechanical experience is very limited and have only been back on a proper bike for a few months so this may just have been a fluke on my 19 yr old ride!
  8. Well I've just spent nearly 2 hours washing and polishing my bike and have another 2 hours while the Mrs is at work to give my helmet a good buffing!
  9. So that is the exact reason, even on my 125, I will let my scrotum sit in its own sweat in leathers. What a brave girl! I was almost tempted the other night not to bother putting them on.
  10. I normally clean mine every other week or so unless the weathers good, then I find the bucket of water spills on tight bends!! I once got my boys to clean it and I ended up with loads of tiny scratches on the tank where they'd dropped the sponge on the floor!! Still trying to T-cut them out!!
  11. And also something like a Tenere or a Triumph Tiger ...... or both!!
  12. Surely the battle sites on an SA80 make it as accurate as a catapult at more than 100 yds? If you're going to get that close and personal, wouldn't a Desert Eagle be more fun????
  13. Love Air museums - been too many years since I've been. Sad really cos I live 5 mins from Duxford IWM and actually would cost me nothing to go - they allow all the locals free access on non air days! If ever anyone is going there give me a shout and I'll get the Mrs to put the kettle on!
  14. Really love the look of the Fjr1300a, but also would have to have some sort of trike - I've got 2 boys who struggle to share at the mo! Given that money would be no object, I obviously wouldn't be working so I'd have to split my time between bikes and a 1972 Charger - and yes it would be in Sunburnt Orange with all the decals!
  15. I forgot to mention it's a 94 model - so not that old - manufactured when I passed my cage test, so can only be a few years! Does mean that there is no tool kit with it, but I do have a basic set of tools - I can perform basic service stuff on my car that is mechanical, although with newer cars I find you can't do anything without a link up to a computer! As far as proper bike maintenance goes I'm a complete novice - so even with this, may still get some idiot questions!!
  16. Cool! Do you get to keep anything you find???
  17. Thanks all! I'm struggling to get hold of a proper manual - I can only find the Haynes and that's a struggle to get! Sounds like I need to change it all soon then - I don't want to be known as 'Grouch 2'!
  18. I haven't changed my oil in my SR yet and have covered about 2.5k miles. I was thinking about 3k would be the time, but I recently saw one for sale stating the oil change every 300 miles? It's a 94 model and covered just over 42k miles. Any suggestions appreciated.
  19. I had a similar issue with my SR. all earthing points were fine, including the bulb terminals inside the dash, it turned out to be a dodgy connection in the hi/lo switch! At least all my earths are clean now!
  20. As a novice and I room in my shed, I spray my SR with wd40 after every wash, and when I get home in the wet. I throw an old tarpaulin over it as soon as the exhaust has cooled to stop it from melting. Thinking about it the cost of wd40, I could probably buy a new shed by Christmas!!
  21. That's just got me worried! Other than oil, air filter, spark plug, chain tension is there anything I'm missing to prevent a top end falling apart??
