  1. Thanks DT50 I think it must be a bad earth like John said as I've substituted every part with parts from my other bike which is running A1, not had time to look at it since last post due to work, hopefully get on it tonight or tomorrow. If all else fails I have another loom but don't want to go down that road as its untested.
  2. I'm a maybe, very busy with work a the moment but will try not to be working that weekend hope I make it in time this year
  3. What Blackie said, also check the vacuum pipes on carbs & breather on tank filler cap, oh & Welcome to YOC
  4. I would be frightened of my wife seeing how much stuff I've ordered. will have to devise a code like clean = bought & remove = order
  5. This looks a lot smaller but think you'll still need bar raisers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Handlebar-Switch-Indicators-Horn-Hi-Low-Beam-Head-Light-Left-Side-12v-/140887894472?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item20cd92a9c8
  6. John Cheers I'll have another go later Noise I tied with the spark plug that is working on other cylinder and also a new one also replaced HT leads both working on other side Jimmy I think the CDI acts as switch, other cylinder works fine, only 2 wires on the working side, the side with no spark has 3 wires Drew I know what you mean I f#ckin hate electrical gremlins. hope its what John said cos haven't got a clue
  7. I started work on my second bike a few weeks ago, still not decided what to do with it yet. Just thought I’d put it back together after stripping parts from it over the last few years, every time I had a problem with first bike I’d pull something off this one, even if it was only to diagnose a problem then not put it back, anyway refitted the carbs, coils, cdi rectifier, fueltap, also managed to get the front brake unseized. Tried to start it today and it fired up fine except only on one cylinder, I tested the coil by switching it with the other one then tried to trace the wires back 1st wire only went back along the loom a short way before it split back to the other coil so my thinking is its ok up to that point as other coil works fine so put in a bridge wire between that point and the coil, no joy so traced 2nd wire back to cdi tested this on other bike it works fine so put bridge wire between cdi and coil still no joy, on to third wire which went to multi connecter behind the headlight then on to r/h switchgear So tried a spare switch and another bridge wire to the coil, still no spark on the first cylinder, well I do get maybe one weak spark now a again which it was doing before I started tracing back. I have cleaned every connection and the rest of the electrics are all working . I think a bit more head scratching before I get to the root of this one, any ideas anyone?
  8. very nice concept, seat alone looks a million times better than whats on it now which looks like its sort of melted over the sides. are you not going to bother with rear lights, I think Noise had the best solution for that.
  9. I did indeed, but don't think I got out of second gear so couldn't really give a full opinion, did have a fantastic time on it though, was a bit rough on the gear change but they did take a bit of a bashing up there. If I was looking for a bigger bike, I think if I could afford one that is, a Bonneville. I had a go on Jimmy's on the way home, grin from ear to ear
  10. good luck Noise, I think easier option is street fighter but I'm sure you could go either way ( insert joke here )
  11. yes you did and the workshop section is littered with your attempts

might it be easier to fit an XJ wiring loom ?
  13. My bike's manual says sae 10 30 motor oil. I asked my local bike shop what was the equivalent fork oil, he said 10w. have a look at your manual for details of whats needed for your bike
  14. you could have someone's eye out with that
  15. I went last year and booked it all separately, book you ferry's soon as pos if your taking your bikes. I tried to book for this year, last november and couldn't get the bike on I stayed at the official I O M TT campsite which was only a short distance from the paddock I only went for start of pratice week had a great time, can't fail not too as long as you get good weather.
  16. Everything as above, also a bigger rear tyre than recommended size will effect handling in a bad way.
  17. piccies please, Noise I thought you were more of a Jack Daniels man !
