    Made my eyes water

For anyone not an expert in this form of defence, here is a video. Not really sure what this guy is doing from 0:29 to 1:00 but I'm pretty sure that's some crazy combination of moves to suck his testicles inside, reliving his pre-pubescent ages.
  2. The "waiting for nod" at the biker on the other side can get a bit awkward. I try not to stare at the rider until the lights go green and I'm just passing. Similar scenario here KirriePete, except I'm usually the small dot in the mirror while the Audi rockets away. One day...
  3. Nicely put there twincle . I rest my right hand on the tank sometimes but it just looks wrong without both arms and I can't be arsed popping to neutral lol. I just get the feeling that everyone is watching, so I feel compelled to do something to keep everyone entertained, the weirdo that I am.
  4. Sorry to hear your misfortune . What's happening with the driver? Is anything coming out of his pocket for the damage?
  5. It's hard to find anyone selling an F model. I've came across a 2003 model (which includes the electric starter), but, I'm slightly on edge about buying a bike that's almost 10 years old.
  6. I looked around a while back about filtering in the UK and what I found was that it's neither legal nor illegal to filter, but yes, as long as it's done safely and the conditions allows you to do so, then it's perfectly fine. There is actually no law set out for filtering, as long as you don't break any other laws (double white lines, speeding etc.) while doing so. That's a great video, I'm not an expect on the whole matter, but, I don't know whether he forgot to mention this or just completely ignored the step of shoulder checking/life saver before moving out to the opposite lane to overtake. It does go without saying but if anyone is to learn from the video then it's a vital piece of information that should have been included. No doubt some drivers try their luck on overtaking on the opposite side of the road (turning right for instance) and situations like this could be fatal.
  7. Just sitting there waiting for lights to change, feels slightly awkward at times lol. I don't usually go down to neutral so my left hand is always holding the clutch in. My right hand is also usually on the handle bar but it's free to move around and sometimes I pretend to check my pockets - even though I know they are closed . Maybe test my glove fitting and majority of the time I'd be looking around, having a sneaky peak into the vehicle(s) next to me. What do you riders do ?
  8. I'm not sure about getting done for filtering up to a red traffic light lol. I've done it a few times, going past police cars and even stopping next to some of them when I get to the lights. No idea how that could be classified as attempting to race.
  9. Oh, for some reason, I've always assumed the rider is automatically at 50% blame if a collision were to occur during filtering. That's good to hear lol .
  10. No problem. Thought maybe you would have gone for a Drift or something well known. It's a risk going for a camera that isn't vigorously tested in the wild. I haven't heard of the JVC action camera before and this review doesn't really say a lot of good things about it, hopefully it's on par with the rest. Let us know how the testing goes.
  11. Heh, don't get me wrong, I'm always learning too . What I meant was that it's hard to improve my skills on filtering when I don't get a lot of opportunities to do so. If an opportunity arises, I try my best take in as much as I can. Having experienced riders such as yourself look at the footage and give me feedback eases the whole process, especially things you may not catch the first time.
  12. This. Not sure why you guys are all sad about missing Summer lol. It officially starts on the 21st of June and we've got three months of that lovely sun. Knock on wood!
  13. Damn obriens65, sorry to hear that. Were you at 100% fault? I don't always filter that fast but I totally agree with the lack of time for reaction. It has been almost one year since I started riding and this was pretty much the only time I thought it would be safe for faster filtering than my usual speed, I was pretty excited Thanks for the great tips Mallory1, never thought about the side by side scenario but it makes perfect sense. I see what you mean about moving back into a lane, near the end I could have moved back to the left but the red car making the space for me made me want to stay in the middle and overtake. Notes taken for next filtering session! I just don't get enough of these situations to improve my skills and not a load of dodgy drivers so I'm still a bit naive .
  14. Hopefully not so much so that I end up getting cocky .
  15. Hopefully you haven't bought it at full price already because you can get 10% off on cameras from Action Cameras by using the promotional code VONTEN. Credit: BaronVonGrumble
  16. Since Contour haven't been mentioned yet, I'll mention it . I got my Contour Roam for £134 but you can now get the next model (ContourROAM2) for about £145 on Amazon. The camera quality is great and it's reasonably priced. The awesome thing about these cameras is that they are natively waterproof, so you don't need an enclosure that would add to the weight/bulk. Great for British weather! I also love its slimline design. Personally, I think GoPros are overrated and overpriced (just like Apple products) and Sony is no where near the competition.
  17. YZ250 seems like it would need a lot more work done to make it road registrable. I'm hoping to buy a used WRF and most that I came across have been registered so it cuts the cost slightly.
  18. I've always wanted to get into off-roading but just wasn't sure where to start. I was talking with a few people that suggested a WR250F was a good starter, which is also road registrable. It fits nicely under the 33BHP restriction and I think it's a good step up from my 125. I've also been told they have a very reliable engine and pretty easy to maintain, anyone currently owning or have owned one can confirm that? The one thing I'm worried about is the seat height. It's ~6 inches taller than my XT and I'm currently having to tip-toe slightly. I don't know how expensive it would be to lower a WR250F, if I were to get one.
  19. Yea, it should be solid proof for insurance claims if the worst were to happen. Other than that, it's mostly just looking back at funny shit I come across during my commute.
  20. Ahhh, that makes sense! I wasn't really sure why that was happening, thanks for explanation.
  21. I didn't know the idle was supposed to run at 1650rpm. The manual says it should be between 1300 - 1500, mine settles at around 1400. The battery is around 8 months old but I have it regular plugged into an Optimate. I don't actually feel any difference when riding and haven't stalled at all so it must have always been that way. I'm not really sure how the XT is supposed to act when you go from close to fully open throttle in a split second, does yours cut out when you fully open from idle as fast as you can? How often should you really clean your carb? I'm just waiting for a period of time where I don't need to use the bike for anything so I can spend a few days cleaning this carb because I know for a fact that I won't be able to get it all done in one session lol.
  22. I'm also with the majority on this one and nod whenever I see a two wheeler. I try to avoid nodding riders not wearing full gear and that's only because they tend to be your chavy cocknose rider who haven't really given much thought about proper riding. For those that don't nod back, I try to make it less embarrassing - just in-case the person behind me was watching - by nodding to the opposite side to make it look like I was doing some crazy mirror check or just clearing my ears. I remember when I got my first nod. It was my first time on the XT and I was riding home from the MOT centre. Stopped at the traffic light and I see a Kawasaki (2up) on the other side and I was looking at them the whole time, must have been pretty awkward for them but I wasn't really sure how to react. I was just excited to see another motorcycle. Lights change to green and as we pass, one of them nodded. I knew it was some sort of greeting signal but I wasn't really aware of the whole 'motorcyclist nod' thing so I just waved lol. When I got home, the first thing I did was search online about the nod I got and that's when I found out it's an actual thing. I was pretty happy that day and told everyone about it. Discovering this unspoken gesture got me really excited about riding and that there are riders out there who acknowledge your passion for riding... a mutual connection with a total stranger. This is why I nod at learners, hoping to pass on that feeling of being part of something special.
  23. I read the source you linked but it stated nothing about making tailgating a driving offence. Looking more into it, I found this press release on the gov site which lists tailgating and an increase fine for mobile phone abusers to £100.
  24. The Bimota DBX. Looks like an absolute beast. Priced around £20k.
