Enjoy yourself Drewps! 5000 Scouts sounds a little too manic for me!
  2. Enjoy yourself Jimmy, sounds like it'll be a great weekend.
  3. Glad you went with the option of buying a top from an "outdoor-sey" shop. Well worth it in my opinion, and I currently commute into Central London where I gather no speed and the air is stagnant. Yet still I arrive at work feeling miles better than travelling down to the shops with a cotton t-shirt on under my jacket in similar weather. It lasts me in winter too, with the addition of another top on very cold days and longer trips. I even went camping in December last year (like an idiot) and my two synthetic tops kept me warm in the tent, just like on the bike. It's all about layers.
  4. Sorry I could make it guys. Perfect weather and it would have been nice to see you ahead of Squires. However I am down South at the mo, with a very clean bike as that was my activity for Saturday... Today's activity? BBQ and alcohol... Sweet!
  5. Summer clothes: bike boots with socks that help to wick sweat. Kevlar jeans, summer gloves, long sleeve synthetic t-shirt to wick sweat, bike jacket and balaclava to wick sweat. In fact, I wear the same in winter, but add a Buff, change the gloves, normally add waterproofs and sometimes an extra top. Don't bother with a cotton t-shirt, as you said, you just get too sweaty under your jacket. Buy a top from some kind of hiking or cycle shop and you'll arrive feeling much fresher. Plus they pack down small, don't really crease and prevent nasty smells - so great for biking holidays! Regarding the stand - no idea... Although in answer to your question, I'm left handed and it's no bother.

Yay!! You're back! Hello again Sacha! :-)
  7. Safe travels!! Looking forward to your updates. :-)
  8. I'm so gutted my weekends are currently consumed by commuting between counties else I would have loved to come along, even if just for one of the days. You sure had cracking weather for it!
  9. Hey, welcome! I'm currently in Egham, Surrey during the weeks - not sure where you are? Used to have a YBR, great bike. Currently have a Triumph, but still active on this forum as they are a great bunch. Head back up to Derbyshire on the weekends but happy to meet up for a ride whilst daylight is on our side...

Well you can stay on my Christmas card list Numan... ;-) I know the Tiger and Street are a different class of bike, but they share the same engine (longer stroke for the Tiger). They also have many other similar components. Granted I've only done 300 miles on it, but I'm already finding the bike less work. You can't feel the weight and you can flick it about. I'm also finding this bike smoother, it glides along the road. I just need to get into the mindset of going around sunken manholes and potholes instead of over them like I did before! I've jarred myself a few times already...! I'm still to test it at motorway speeds, but at 60mph I'm not getting so much pressure on my shoulders or head, which surprised me. I thought in would be horrid after sitting behind a big screen. It has a tonne of torque, as did the Tiger, so pulls without any real thought and I can already see myself using it on long trips. However, the trip last night showed just how much the Tiger protected me from the elements as I was kind of wishing I had my Buff on me which I've not worn in months. So perhaps I won't be as enthusiastic come autumn/ winter... Who can say?! The Speed is a really nice looking bike, but as one of the guys said to me in the showroom, the Street is the kind of bike you can just jump on without thinking about it. I get what he's saying after riding it...

Ahh my poor bike's getting a bashing in the light department, lol!! Just ridden it down to my parents - 200 miles of non motorway bliss and not exceeding 60mph as per the running in schedule. That was tedious! Tyres are nicely scrubbed in now and it was a good way for me to get to know the bike a little better. Wow...!
  16. Ahh, beat me too it Paul!
  17. This is brilliant, great photos, would have loved to come but my weekends are currently consumed what with all the commuting down to London that's taking place. That photo of Tommy is currently the best of the year.
  18. Very nice, enjoy! However I think I'm more relieved that you now have a bike to match those bargain leathers... Black and blue only works on a bruise...!

Sadly I traded the Tiger in for this... I went to enquire and they offered my an amazing price for the Tiger, plus I got £900 worth of free accessories on this bike. In essence, I got a new bike for hardly anything! I'd put 12,000 miles on the Tiger in a year (not bad considering a worked from home for 9 of those months), so certainly got my money's worth! I was looking for something lighter and generally smaller to get around in Central London, but still with enough poke to go on longer trips. I loved the engine on the Tiger, so knew I wouldn't go wrong with this. If only I was rich, I'd have kept the Tiger, couldn't fault it but with my change in circumstance I'm looking forward to a tiny bike to get me into London. Heading down there tomorrow morning actually, so I'll report back. I won't be going on the motorway though as I don't want to hold it at a constant speed with only a few miles on the clock. Normally leave at 4.30 on a Monday, so it'll probably have to be even earlier... Urgh... I get what people are saying about the lights, guess I'm used to them as they are also on the Tiger. For me though it's the new low exhaust, I can't easily look at that side of the bike... Preferred the older ones with the under seat twin cans. Oh well, can't see it when I'm sat on it, plus it sounds nicer than the Tiger!

Thanks guys. It's a fun bike - so tiny when compared with the Tiger. And I hear what you're saying with the lights, although the fly screen helps to make them look like part of the whole bike.
