  1. The difference it would make IMO would be alot of unintentional up shifts if you wear mx boots, accidentaly tap the shifter and you get a up shift you didn't want or worse a half shift and bugger the tranny, no way I would put that on my dirt bike, now if I were drag racing the bandit and looking to shave a few thou of a second off my time then I might try one,but then I think I would stick with what I know works and go with a air shifter or a selonoide e shifter and press the button for shifts and let the air shifter do all the work.If the Top fuel bikes and indy cars can use them with proven success then you know it works. That thing look's cheap and hookey to me,, bent far to many shifter's MXXING to trust that to get me to the finnish line without breaking.or cutting out the ignition so I couldn't even finnsh

Shame about the tank but realy it's looking great, you have come a long way from what you started with.I take it your not going to bother with the tank untill winter and just use it as is.I would.Looks great from afar and far from good up close But thats 1 of thoes thing that you can't control, did the sticker company come thrue with new ones for free at least? Hope the spark issue is easy to sort so you can finnaly ride the bike, realy we only have another60ish days of riding left before we start seeing the white crap falling and 90ish before were knee deep in the crap and cant ride
  3. The nly reason Yam gives the #'s to the parts is to make thier life easier, not sayin it won't be possible to fit but I don't know. Sometime part #'s get supperseded with a new number but normaly they give all the old numbers to collate them, try calling a dealer they should be able to tell you if it has been superseeded with a new #
  4. I'm not the guy to answer this ? but as far as I know you will have to first put it in photobucket ( or simmilar sites) then ad a link to post here. Still trying to get it all right myself. to all the mods here,,,,,, isn't there a way to make it easier to post picts here? Or can only Alex change that?

LOL your not telling the whole story ,but glad you got it sorted. I loved that bike( well mine was a 86) the chassis was so stiff and the bike just wanted to dive into cornners, next to my rd/ rz day's and then the all mighty gsxr 750 in 86 ( and no one can argue that,, that bike raised the standered for sport bikes, sorry but the fz 750 couldn't hold a candel to the gsx) the 600 fz is and allways be one of the most fun bikes I have ever riden,,, not over powered but enough to know your riding a power/handeling machine,,just has a seat that sucks.
  7. Not if tommy has had a few,bet he's got another up his sleeve Might be a bit big for comfort sorry foams,,,,, but you started this, alas we shoud ask Bippo's opinion,,,,,,,, has he a chance? Anyway near your type? I have never seen a hook up here

K the #5 washer has to fit on the shaft splined area otherwise tis just floating around and when you tighten up the inner /whole assebly it's going to be wrong. So what went wrong the outer basket has to fit in enough to allow the #5 washer to fit back on the area of the shaft that will accept it? EDIT did you get a factory pin for the oil pump or is it holding the whole thing out?as it might be longer and not allowing the basket to fit in properly,,,realy I'm lost on this one, But while you have it appart check the pins that hold the gear to the outer basket seems to me that they they could come loose/worn and the basket has extra play to the gear,we were putting in new pins on the drag bike to fix this problem.
  13. YO martin next time remove the fluid from the lines and master before pushing the pistons back, and clean the piston of dirt and brake dust, then flush the whole system with new fliud. Pushing the old fluid back into the master tends to dammage the seals, the master ,(as task said this stuff collects moisture fast) corrodes and the metal goes down into the lines when you push the fluid back it tends to tear the rubber seals. and the dust seals at the caliper aren't 100% sealed so when you push them back in your pushing dirt into the seals that do all the work. But you kinda know that now
  14. OOPs when I read it I though you were talking R1 my bad
  15. Put the thing in the oven and heat it up to 100 then let it cool down then heat it again keep repeating this untill you can just turn it out the dissimiler metals will heat at a different rate and eventualy break the corrosion ,remember this thing simply screwed in when new. Just a matter of breaking the corrosion EDIT also spray some penetrating oil when hot.it will work it's way in better Re edit don't pick it up by hand when hot or your going to get burnt, sound obivious but who knows what people will do and I don't want you blaming me for getting burnt.

Hey whats up with the bike? Get the pipe problem fixed yet???????
  17. Ya whats up shit your pants yet when the wheel come's up in 4th when you wern't tring? welch hows the 610 treating you big lump of bike to try and throw around when it get's slippery got the swing of it yet?
  18. Look right near the oil fill cap the amount will be right there to chang the oil(ps this is not just the tranny oil it's the oil for the whole motor if you didn't know that allready).and you should chang the filter. Check the linkage from the shifter to the shaft entering the eng possibly the part that fit's on the shaft is loose,if it is and you can't just tighten up the 8mm bolt and if the clamping part is allready full seated you have to buy a new one ,or get creative and cut it so it can clamp tighter. But if all the teeath are worn down then get a new one so you don't wreck the selector shaft. If the teeth are worn on the selector shaft, I have another method of temp fixing this problem but you will have to PM me not something I would tell everyone to do and if you do it your on your own. If all thats ok then your looking at spliting the motor to fix tranny bearings or shift forks
  19. Don't say that tommy he's on the right track, the bike is going to get a full once over and be reliable and fixed, remember this all started from a lack of maintence a 30 doll oil change. At 25 we all made stupid mistakes and payed for it later. He's got a little one to look after and best his ride is safe and trusty so he can get to work and home safe to look after that little one.And this bike will truely be his own bike as he will have built it from the ground up HIS WAY a thing most riders will never be able to say! Noise a old sayin.."beauty is in the eye of the beholder",build it the way you want it to look,I've seen bikes that at first glance they look like crap but when you take the time to look,, realy look ,,they are works of art that could out perform/last shiney ones.,, Drewps flat tracker is a good example at first glance it looks like someone was on a tight budget and slaped a FT seat on and some lighting to get through a MTO,But I bet that bike handels/stops better than anyother xs and not 1 bolt or nut is going to fall off from a rushed job.Take your time and do it right and be proud of it when it's done, then when people ask you can say in full honesty "I built this bike" and Betty will be as good as any new bike.

  21. House who needs a house when you have a garage/man den only time I spend in the house is to eat, shower, crap and sleep, same when I go visit buddies we always end up in the garage thats where all the cool stuf goes on . After my divorce the only thing I cared about when picking out a house was the size of the garage and it's half the size of the house attached to the kitchen.Right handy for grabing a bit to eat or a cold beer..The old house I put a ramp into the basment and had a 30x60 shop didn't go well with the x when i used to run bikes and wake the baby So get on that new garage hunt your suffering and so are your bikes,it's just not right a grown man with no garage ,it's criminal
  22. Then even cheaper most charge 75 just for set up. wtf do then need a rolling road for and just cause the drum is silghtly oval( only took .020 to make it round) dosen't stop the bike from stoping safely unless your jamming the brake full on and then your in a panic stop, wee bit of anything on the road and it will lock up anyway, me thinks the tester is just a bit picky been caught for letting something go that was unsafe and had a talk from the upper's. We have a bit different rule's and there is a acceptable amount of run out and free play when testing parts .020 would be acceptable as long as the drum was under the max alowable size. but o well it's better now anyway.

Definatly not #5 must be between the innre and outer or when the nut is tightened the 2 parts wolud be locked together, so that real only leaves the oil gear .why not try fliping it over and reassemble it just for a try I 'm lost as to what happened between dissassembley and re?

    Ice skating!!!

LOL there is a guy who lives on a very bussy street just after a nasty set of train tracks in London Ontario and for as long as I can remember he has always had hubcaps for sale, old guy who sits on his porch and collects them as they come off cars, wonder how much cash he has made over the years at 10 buck's a cap
  25. Good thing the drum did clean up that would have been a real bummer if you had to rebuild the wheel again, little leson learned for all who are rebuilding wheels have the drum checked before building. 35 to get it done is cheap most machine shops here would charge you that just for set up then charge you for lathe hours min 1 hr even though it wouldn't take more than 15-20 min .so could easly run into150
