  1. Good intro mate, welcome to the nuthouse
  2. Welcome to the nuthouse mate. I used to run an xjr1200, great bikes
  3. Right ya pair of show off c**ts, I'll ask again. How do you post a direct link to the vids
  4. I'd love to see this mob live Gogol Bordello Start wearing purple as an aside, How do I copy a direct link, like finnerz' above
  5. My mate owned a Kwak KH500 and it went like shit of a shiney shovel. You could also get a kh750 Suzuki did a T500 and a GT500 and a GT750
  6. I usually always wear them, and get annoyed when I forget to put them in. I just use the yellow foam ones out of work. I grab a handfull of packets every time I'm on the firing range, so I've always got loads of spares.
  7. Just went and followed my front wheel. Came over the brow of a hill and was met with this view
  8. Has it died a death, or just a delay whilst we all enjoy the glorious weather. Anyway heres a nice pic I shamelessly stole from another website
  9. You will feel the engine starting to nip up a little as well. As airhead says, keep an eye on the oil line into the pump ensuring no gaps or bubbles
  10. I know that..... I was looking for a reaction, from dt obviously, but drewps will do
  11. My son started his biking career on a Reiju 50cc. That had a minarelli engine as used by Aprilla and Yamaha. As stated the paintwork on the frame and swingarm was shit, in fact I spent an afternoon stripping it down and the got it powder coated. After that there were no issues. He ran around on it for 1 year and sold it for about £100 mare that he (me) paid for it.
  12. Cheers mate, the kinda answer I'd expect from a Yank Anyway, you're right a mikuni would probably mean easier running over the term. The purists would have a coronary lookig over the bike anyway
  13. Good spot Airhead, on both counts. Still need to buy a pancake filter for it
  14. They're not my favourite band, but my top 5 Stones songs would be Angie Sympathy for the Devil Paint it Black Beast of Burden You cant always get what you want
  15. Cheers dt I agree with the reliability and xs650 comparison, however it has had a number of upgrades by the PO including 12v conversion, electronic ignition and morgo oil pump so once fettled it should be ok. I am thinking of either getting the Amal reconditioned or (whisper it) fitting a mikuni Re the Lake view, its the River Clyde and in Scotland we do Lochs not Lakes (with one exception)
  16. Cheers folks Drewps You're right, I must have moved on from AC/DC to Wullie Nelson at the time of filming
  17. Non Yam bike related, so here goes Having neglected working on my 59 Speedtwin for a wee while, I set about it with gusto these last few days. Finished all the wee jobs, added oil and petrol and went to fire it up. 2nd kick having stood unused for God knows how many years so I was all chuffed. I had left the exhaust off so after fitting them I tried it again, Nowt, as in no power....a blown fuse was the culprit however every time I replaced the fuse it would blow again. Tried a few things with the multimeter but all negative results. Finished late last night and asked for help on a couple of Classic bike forums. Anyway back at it today, and having thought about it whilst out running this morning I was thinking what had I done. Some breakfast down me and out to the shed armed with some AC/DC and a cup of tea. I started to isolate each circuit (ignition, lights, charging) when I discovered it was the lighting circuit at fault. On checking all the wiring I discovered that some pillock, that'll be me, had connected an earth wire to the lighting power block...fud. Anyway set it all up as it should be and tried again...yipee it runs. Still some work to do, the bike wont rev up so some setting up of the carb is in order and the clutch is very heavy so I will need to look at that, but hey, it runs http://s151.photobucket.com/user/brackenbrodie1/media/1959SpeedTwin002_zpsb726156f.mp4.html
  18. My boy has owned one for about 6 months now, he is on a restricted licence, so its set at 33bhp. That aside he certainly enjoys it. He is 5'11 and although he looks a bit big on it, he says its comfy when out and about. He has very loud pipes on it and I think thats actually what he likes about it
  19. You may well think that mate, but look at the positives, real life and the assocciated finance bills sucking every bit of cash off you have not got a grip yet, the ability to jump on your bike and go anywhere you want without the "what about us" phrase getting flung at you every time you get near the bike gear, if you feel like doing an all nighter out on the bike you can, and so on and so on. Dont wish your life away mate Here I am about 18/19 yrs old and not a care in the world Sorry about the poor quality, the only pic I had was on a windows file and it would not transfer to photobucket so I had to take a pic of the screenshot ( theres probably is a better way but I'm not too good with all this 'puter wizardry)
  20. Give me this weather over the cold wet shite any day of the week
  21. Very nice mate, although I was expecting to hear this Glen Campbell Galveston What was the trip in real time
