Folks I'm looking for recommendations for a heavy duty bike cover. I need to take the bike out the shed for a few weeks and the weather up here is shit. I bought an Oxford cover last year and it didnt last the pace. The silver coloured material (for those who know) ended up shredded with just a little wind

I got all my tanks painted the same so her indoors doesn't notice.....So far so good

I agree with slice. Bearing in mind the bike is 16yrs old. Might not have much mileage on it but you dont the POs riding style. Dont be put off the bike. I dont imagine the fork bushes (phosphor bronze?) will cost much, so set aside a day and strip the forks down. Look for any bends, kinks or ripples in the stanchions. If straight, rebuild using the new bushes and seals. Fill with fresh measured oil and when complete do not fully tighten all bolts, rather when assembled hold on the front brake and bounce it up and down. This should get all components lined up true. Then finish off tightening everything up. Bobs your proverbial.

I bought my xs1100 on a Q plate back in 1990. It had been brought into the UK from Holland and the frame and engine numbers matched. Anyway I contacted Yamaha UK and they sent me out a letter stating it was a 1979 model imported for sale in Europe. I was issued an age related plate on the strength of that. Prior to getting this plate I ran it around for two years, and although a Q plate wasn't so problematic, afair, I couldn't get a NCD on it Probably not much help to you Noise, but good luck on whatever you do

Good on you for trying it Grouch...Surely that will give you some confidence..Bleeding the brake is easy, especially if you are using the tube into a half filled bottle/jar. Just dont let the reservoir run dry when you are pumping it
