Agree. I always wanted a Triumph Bonnie, an xs1100 and an xt500......I've owned a couple of Bonnies (only because the 1st was stolen.....Bastards....or I would still have that one) an xs11 which lived up to my expectations (including the rubber frame, ah 70s handling!!) but never the xt500....maybe one day

Have you thought of numbering each 'hole' so the screws/bolts can be kept in a chronological sequence to aid rebuilding I do the photos on stripdown on just about everything, but usually by the time I get back to it I've either forgot my phone or the battery is flat, so the above would be a wee aid to remembering

DV'd so quite good clearance I tried the forgotten password links and it stated that it had sent the link to my email' but it must have been intercepted by GCHQ or the CIA cos I never received it Edit// Well, I was able to log out, delete all short cuts then log back in. Unfortunately that does not cure the page reloading issue. It doesn't reload on my phone or tablet, and no other page does it on my laptop so it must be an interface issue between my laptop and this forum. Yesterday I tried to access the forum but got the message that work was being carried out. Back from work, forum update complete and access regained. My issue is that now every page I open loads up then reloads which is starting to make me twitch. I'm thinking if I delete all my shortcuts and then open up the forum again this may help but I do not know my password so would be unable to log again (yeahhh I hear some shout) so any chance either Alex or one of the Mods could pm me my password so I can change it

It could be the battery. Put a meter over it to check the battery condition, alternatively If you have breakdown, ride a few miles from your house, call them up and tell them the engine management light is on. They should be able to read the code

You can insure it on a frame number, then MOT it on frame number, then get an age related plate. I wouldn't worry too much about the black liquid coming out your exhaust. Does your bike sit outside, if so, does the cover pull all the way over the end of the silencers. With the amount of rain and wind lately, it's probably just water mixed with carbon soot (unless of course you have actually checked it and it is oil) Re: The back wheel. Assuming it is a drum brake, .You need to check the brake is not locked on. Firstly check the pedal moves up and down freely and then look at the brake pivot at the rear wheel/brake plate. You may need to take the wheel off, remove the shoes and pivot. Clean up the pivot with degreaser and fine steel wool, then something like copaslip on it before reassembly If it is a disk brake, then you'll need to check the piston is retracting in the caliper. Over the winter this will attract a load of crud and could cause some corrosion thus preventing the piston from releasing. You can buy an overhaul kit which will include new seals. It may also be the master cylinder again you can buy an overhaul kit for that. Either way, you are only talking a few hours work with minimum outlay (none if it is a drum brake)
