Yea, I still have my 2 Triumphs. Originally I bought the newish Triumph for my boy, I had been left some money when my auld man died, anyway turned out the insurance cost would have been exhortinate so I said I would keep the Bonnie and when he passed his test I would sell the xjr.

Well folks I have just sold my xjr and that is me currently without a Yam. Am I now to be frogmarched off the forum
  5. Alright mate, welcome to the forum. Great choice of bike. My mate had one back in the day
  6. What year is your bike, have you tried Yambits http://yambits.co.uk/parts_by_bike.php and type in BRG034. They list them at £19.95

Well I also live up in the frozen North I will definately be against Scottish Independence. If you think you cannot trust a Westminster politician, then you should be sure that you cannot trust Salmon. In my opinion he is the biggest self serving, lying, bombastic, arrogant fool out there. Anyone who thinks the UK would be in a better state broken up into 4 separate countries is sadly deluded.

Hey Gizmo I kinda agree with you, but I cant seem to help myself and his attitude is probably the same as yours was...my auld man will fix it. Maybe I will step back a bit when he gets his new bike

Didnt really think of bidding, due to the engine "problem", but I was looking through Dragstars when I saw it and thought its a good looking bike

Alright mate, welcome to the forum Congrats on passing your test. What age are you, hows the insurance quote going. Advice as above. Wrap up warm with layers of clothing and gloves. I dont do much winter biking these days but my 18yr old son uses his bike all year round. He has thermal inners, gloves and mitts type outers and says that seems to work. Try and hose your bike down at the earliest opportunity (although not if its going to be icy, or you'll have a skating rink to negotiate) Also treat all car drivers as if they havent seen you and be prepared. I have advised my boy to do a (mental) running commentary of the road ahead similar to that required on a Police driving course. Try that, it will make you more observant to whats happening around you. Good luck and safe riding
  13. Hullo mate, welcome to the forum

    Heres mine
  15. ww Yea sorry mate, you're right. I was working from memory, which is obviously shit.
  16. Listen to what he's telling you. If you do not want to do direct access and get an unrestricted licence then sit your test on a 125cc bike. This will then allow you to ride a bike up to 46bhp. Bear in mind if you have the unrestricted licence you still have the option to ride your smaller bike as well as a "big bike" if you change your mind later on.

Tom Just check the throttle cable has not jammed somwhere during the fall. Open and close the throttle a few times and it should snap shut. Dont worry about the off, as long as you learn from it. When I was 17 I fell off, doing the exact same thing, about 4 or 5 times before my slow witted brain put 2 and 2 together ps. Head over to the intro section and stick a few lines in about yourself and your bike

Cheers Drewps He likes riding and I do his maintenance. The virago would be a lot better for him re maintenance, he doesn't even adjust his chain (my fault I know, too soft), but I think the old Yam is a far better bike. Heres one on fleabay at the moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-xs-650-SE-/281049430729?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item416fd9fac9

Alright folks As I have said earlier, my boy passed his mod 2 last week and wants a Virago. I am trying to steer him in the direction of an XS650. Looking at a few on fleabay and they look good to me. Am I wearing rose coloured specs, my mate had one back in the day, and I really liked it (I never told him tho as I owned a Bonnie at the time and the xs was a jap imitation of a real bike ) . He likes the look and sound of the virago but I'm trying to convince him the xs is just as good if not better. What says the collective?

It will smoke a little but I dont think it will do any damage. Back in the day I used to pour some directly down the plughole on my Triumph Bonneville and run it a bit before I lifted the head off (the seals for the pushrod tubes would fail about once a year). The piston crowns would be well clean so I assume the redex done its job

Alright folks Anyone have any idea of the size of the exhaust stub on an SR125. My boys exhaust is popping and when I went to tighten it up, the thread (in the cylinder head) has stripped. I need the thread size so I can pick up a helicoil for it Thanks in advance

Jealous me........Enjoy it for as long as you can Beef I stopped playing at 45 having started at 12. I played back row and enjoyed the physical side immensely. Eventually tho' my legs gave up and the hammies were getting taped up every week. I ended up spending more time on the physios table than on the pitch

....feel good? He doesn't say much, what 18yr old does, but yea, I think he's quite happy (I know I am...at £60 for a 2 hr lesson it was costing me a fortune. Anyway now on the lookout for a bigger bike. As I've said before, he's wants a virago (restricted) and the insurance for that seems reasonable

At 48 I'm too old to play Rugby, so I have been coaching for the last 2 years
