  1. Signed... As an aside, just off the Scottish news, a guy got 9 years for causing an accident which killed his passenger
  2. Got the bike out last night and rode it to work today. First time I've been on it since Oct/Nov last year and it was bluddy great. Light rain at 0500hrs in the way in and heavier rain for the 1st half of my return journey.......but bluddy good just to be out on it.
  3. Good. I was over looking at the HRMC pages and although I couldn't find anything relating to the 30 year cut off, I did see that there was a £5 per day charge for every day past the 14 day notification period
  4. What year is it, if its over 30 year old HRMC state that it doesn't need a NOVA Certificate, although there is some discussion about DVLA saying they still want one. Imagine 2 Govt depts not knowing what each other wants eh
  5. 'cept me, but I've asked for 'in absentium' across mine cos I cant make it
  6. No probs mate, I was just thinking back to servicing my boys 535 and I used my plug key as opposed to anything from a socket set.
  7. I think your answer is in the post, all advertised as 2001 onwards. As noise says try getting some machining done if they are not available for the y2k model Maybe these help http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vstar-650-floor-boards-with-heel-toe-shifter-XVS650-V-STAR-Yamaha-floorboards-/171234559100?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27de60047c
  8. Great pics and a great adventure mate. Having never been outside of Britain and Ireland on the bike (I keep promising myself a trip) I love reading of these tales
  9. Once you try Black, you'll never go back
  10. Good choice mate, 1958 model although I prefer the 1958 T110
  11. Who knows is my answer. As you know I'm into auld Triumphs and the prices of those are exhorbitant, even the wee 200cc Tiger Cubs are well over a grand. Look at the prices of xs250s nowadays, they are the Yam equivalent to grey porridge, as Cubs and the like were called. Look at xs1100s Heres my tale of woe 1980 xs250 bought 1981 for £625 sold 1984 for £125 selling now for £500 upwards 1978 cb400/4 " 1981 for £180 sold 1983 for £400 selling now for well over £800 1980 T140D " 1983 for £1100 stolen 1989 Ins paid £1600 now selling for over £5k 1955 Speedtwin " 1985 for £110 sold 1988 for £250, selling now for well over £5k 1979 xs1100 " 1990 for £380 sold 2001 for £850 selling now for £2500 -£3500 So as I say who knows, the prices of aulder Japs are climbing up and up so in maybe 20 years.... edit//: Just looked on fleabay 3 xs11s at a grand and under and 2 at £3999, although whether they sell at that we'll probably never know
  12. 1 2 noise, Jimmy* 3 4 DDT, Slice, Drewpy, bippo *Thats if I'm allowed to order one seeing as I'll not be there
  13. laura My boy rode a sr125 through 2 winters and we (I) regularly had to take the rear wheel off remove the brake cam, clean it up and regrease it. His did gunge up, so as stated above that may well be the reason for the delay in the light going off. Try the front brake first, if no delay, check the rear
  14. I'm heading over to Ballyshannon in August, so I'll have a look then, fingers crossed
  15. Drewpy I refer you to this post in the Bar/YOC Patch thread Drewps If there is one left, gies a call, I'll take it jimmy
  16. If it's the one with the bike on it, can I have one with "in absentium" on it since I'm working that weekend

    Wiring Products

Not a Yamaha, but does anyone have any personal recommendations of wiring providers. I will soon be making a new harness for my Can Am Bombardier and will be buying all necessary stuff shortly. I have done a t'internet search and a multitude of providers show up. Before I just jump in and buy, I'm looking any recommendations. My plan is to strip down the auld harness and pin it to a board as reference to lengths required for the new one, but any tips and hints (crimping or soldering) would also be greatly received. Drewps*, apologies if this needs to go in the workshop thread, if so can you do the necessary Edit....Meant to write DDT
  19. I was changing the s/h bearings on my auld speedtwin. Tried to source taper bearings but they start from '61 onwards, mine is '59. Anyway ordered new cup, cones and bearings. The fugging things are only 1/8" (about 3mm for the pups) so it was a bit of a bugger trying to fit them properly with some grease.
  20. I voted Black, cos to misquote Connor McLeod "There can be only one (colour)"...Black
  21. Well done mate. Are you gonna put any decals on the tank or panels
