  1. I was thinking around £100 labour. It's a shame I'm not near Reading. I want to have a crack myself but I'd bodge it.

    Im moving!

I don't mind the cold, it's just the rain that I can't handle. This summer in England has been the wettest I've ever seen. Make the most of it. I always imagine there been loads of chopper style bikes in the U.S.
  3. A 600 will definitely suffice. I have been reading in MCN that when they race the 600's against the 1000's on the track, theres virtually no difference in lap times. The insurance on my Xt is fully paid up until March so there's no point wasting it.
  4. The first time I went to a garage I got ripped off badly, losing money was one thing, but the humiliation was unbearable. Knowing that he knew I knew but couldn't do a thing about it. Anyway I've started to bits myself now but.............. I have bought a brand new speedo for my bike which has all it's own connections and doesn't need to connect to the loom. I would do it myself but lack the experience and confidence when it comes to electrical, also I want a proper job doing. I have booked my bike into a garage which after researching seems ok. How much approximately will it cost to fit it, I know you can't give me an exact answer but I need a rough idea give or take £50 because I can't go through that shit again, getting ripped off. I just want an idea so I know if they are taking the piss.

    XT125R

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Motorcycle-Universal-Trail-Tech-Vapor-Digital-Speedo-Dashboard-Silver-/170852059567?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item27c79389af I'm getting one of these and my bike is booked into the garage next week for it to be fitted. If the speedo is knackered replace it because all XT 125 X/R speedo's are crap, it's a common fault on them.
  6. Paul there's plenty of coloured sprockets on eBay, it's just a case of trawling through them all. 2 Wheels when you put it like that you have made me realise how pointless a coloured sprocket and chain would be. It would be black bright after two days. I think I won't bother now.
  7. Sorry for not searching the forum but I'm using my phone, no access to a pc. I want a blue sprocket and chain for my bike, it's just had a new one but I want a blue one now. What is the difference between DID & O Ring? And For more acceleration do I need more or less teeth on the sprocket, does this apply to the front sprocket as well?

    XT125R

Hi guys, I have the exact problem on my XT 125 X. It has been like that for months so I have just got used to it, but I'm getting it fixed so it looks like I need a brand new speedo.
  10. Cheers Pat, The rear disc has circles on it, exactly the same as a tree trunk, when you chop it in half. This has occured through allowing the original pads to ware down to the metal. This was done through inexperience. When I fitted the new pads I greased them and made sure they were not contaminated.
  11. When I got my bike after a few weeks the rear brake started squeking. After trying brake cleaner it still would squek. It sounds horrible and it embarrasses me, I'm a complete beginner D.I.Y. bike mechanic, but have replaced the pads three times now and it still continues. I can't think of anything else now apart from replacing the disc. The original pads were worn down to the metal so I think they have damaged the disc, also I suspect my bike has its original discs still on six years after been made.
  12. I don't want to give off the wrong impression about my intentions. I do want a faster bike although not for the sole purpose of joyriding and acting like an irresponsible idiot. Granted from time to time I might get a bit carried away but only when it is completely safe and the time and location is right. I think I'm going to phone the guy who conducted my CBT on Monday and take it from there. Hopefully I can get it done and dusted before the winter kicks in.
  13. I have to admit I have my heart set on a 2T but then again while I have the spare cash it would be more sensible to get my test out of the way. Obviously it differs on the individual but how much total (approximate) will it cost for a full licence? Also I can't myself going and getting a 1000 when a 600 will have plenty of quality and capability. MCN did a good article the other week about 400's which got me thinking.
  14. Hi guys, Haven't been on here for a while because I've been busy at work. Right here's the dilemma..................... I bought my 125 in March and now am seriously bored of it. I have an XT 125 X four stroke which is an excellent beginner's bike but slow as..... My plan over the last few months was to get a 125 2T sports, Aprilia RS or equivilent which I would keep as weekend bike to satisfy my need for speed and to get my kicks. But, now I am thinking shall I just do my test? I don't know whether to get a 125 sports or just do my test.

I think they will have run out of freebie stock, like you say they will have been a huge demand.

Has anybody received theirs yet? Mine hasn't come.
  17. Yamaha XT 125 X 65 m.ph.h. Bingley 6 minutes Sad, I know, but we all have to start somewhere
  18. All you can do is get a slip on exhaust which even then will give you a few extra HP. With it being a 4T engine, you can't do out to them. My XT does about 60-65.

I can totally empathise with you on this one, contemporary society is full of suspicion and paranoia. I would say there is a good cause too. I can imagine someone suing another person after they were helped by them.

While I was out yesterday I saw a young lad come off his scooter. Somehow some gravel had got on the road and he slipped on it. It was a busy main road and I was the only one to stop and help him. The lad was fine he just scratched and scuffed his scooter, I can't believe loads of people just drove past and left him.
  21. Decisions, decisions. They're both nice bikes, I like the bobber, chopper.
  22. I did start to doubt and question my decision to let it go but the main factor in doing so was that I really couldn't be arsed waiting for and dealing with the police, hopefully the guy will be more careful now. It could have been a lot worse, if that peg wasn't slack and it didn't fall down, my leg would be crushed
  23. If he had of being a div with me I wouldn't of hesitated to involve the police, but he did seem like a genuine guy so I thought I'll give him a break.
  24. I didn't take any action, I just gave him a lecture about looking out for bikers. He apologised and seemed like a decent guy, I was going to phone the police, but as I was ok and my bike was un damaged I couldn't be arsed waiting around etc. he will definitely think twice now because he caused 100's of pounds worth of damage to his car. I still can't believe how much his motor was damaged.
  25. This Polish guy didn't see me at a junction and clipped me. Luckily I was unhurt, but his bumper and grill are badly damaged. I can't believe the amount of damage my bike caused to his car, when my bike hasn't a scratch on it. I think it would be a different story if I was on a sports bike and not a supermoto. The rear footpeg saved me! It has been annoying me for months because it keeps falling down when I fold it up. It saved my leg from being crushed.
