  1. When I did my CBT the guy told me that it will cost me around £700-800 altogether to get my full licence. I'm at the point now where I need to do it because my 125 is just not giving me that buzz any more, even though still love it. To be honest I feel like a dick head on it especially when other bikers pull up at the side of me. The other day some guy on a big street fighter looked me up and down and burst out laughing at me, and the other favourite is just straight dusting me off at lights etc. I've even had a few scooters try it on. Anyway I phoned this other place up today and he said it will cost £400 all inclusive! Lessons and the lot. To be fair I won't need a lot of practice with all my experience. Are there any cheaper options? Also now it is completely freezing and pissing it down every day, I'm not sure whether to put it off until Spring.

Unfortunately I can't think of out witty to contribute.
  3. I was thinking of applying a light film of engine oil and then lubing it weekly on top of it.
  4. Damn!!! You better learn some basic skills at least! I've learned quite alot since getting my bike and am very capable at basic maintenece, but sometimes I cba or don't have time.
  5. I'm a full time student and work part time lol
  6. Sorry mate didn't realise. I'm 29 and getting my full so I'm straight in for a 600. The Ducati's are fucking gorgeous and IO have considered getting one, but I think they are not very reliable, so would be no good for my everyday commuting etc. I'm going to get a superbike as well for weekends.
  7. The DRZ's are a good bike, but you'll be wanting at least a 600 a few months after getting a 400. I would get a XT 600 or something similar.
  8. You need to accept your XT is slow and theres no way around it other than getting your test passed and getting a bigger bike. Just enjoy it and learn everything you can whilst you have it.
  9. Yeah thats what they charge for an hour, the chain and sprockets cost £70 but thats because I chose a good quality set. I could of done it myself, but couldn't be bothered. In the future I will be doing it myself. I need to put a new near brake disc on in the bear future. I'll be doing that myself.
  10. Chain wax? Also can I lightly oil my chain with old engine oil? I will still lube as well.
  11. So it was the battery that was knackered and not the bulbs? I bought the exact same battery as you have ordered but I have never used it. I thought my battery was knackered but it turned out to be the regulator. It's a shame you've ordered one, I could of sold you my brand new one a lot cheaper.
  12. I'll let you klnow how I get on with my bulbs when they come. Your battery might be weak. Start a thread about it.
  13. It might be your rectifier thats fucked and have nothing to do with the bulbs.
  14. Welcome and you've chosen a really good little bike to get started on.
  15. Welcome to the forum, Chinese bikes are wank, shame you had to learn the hard way.
  16. Just ordered some I have noticed how tight the headlights are on the XT's, I'm really not looking forward to changing the bublbs, but I'm not going to a garage to get it done. I've just paid £50 for a chain and sprocket kit fitting. I really need to stop being lazy. Next on the list is a rear brake disc and pads, and a rear tyre, but I'm not fitting the tyre.
  17. Hi, whats the rule in NZ?
  18. It sounds like it's worth it,if it's all mint and will sail through an M.O.T. then it has to be worth a sale. If you have the spare cash do it. It could even become a collectable. You will probably regret it, if you don't
  19. It depends how much it's worth to you. A £1k seems a lot for a bike without tax and test, but I haven't seen the condition. If you want it and have the cash, get it. Seems a bit over priced to me for an 89 model. I'm sure you can negotiate a better price.
  20. I have some good quality chain lube. I was only lubing once every few weeks if that! Also I sprayed it with the jet wash. I am a bit pissed off it didn't last as long as it should though. It must be the garage what fit it, I had loads of trouble with them ripping me off (big time) so it must be down to them. Did they even replace it? They could of just cleaned the original and tightened it up.
  21. Definitely mate, it's always worth paying a bit extra for quality. What do you use as a cleaning agent?
  22. Just found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-CYCLE-DIRT-BIKES-BRAKE-GEAR-CHAIN-CLEANER-AND-CHAIN-BRUSH-/330793671498?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4d04d6db4a
