Picked the bike up today
Haha I doubt running a monster in like that will bother anyone with the power it will deliver with using a 1/3 of the throttle. Now. compare that to a 125 4T. The power a 1/3 of the throttle produces on my WR is comparable to a Chinky 4T 50cc scooter. Beautiful machine DDT, I love the gold forks. It looks like a mean beast. I bet your not disappointed with the quality either.

Really frustrated at running engine in
I'm more than capable of executing an oil change. But no point might as well just wait until it's first service.

Really frustrated at running engine in
Cheers Drewpy now I know the reason I will wait until it's had its first service until I give it some. I could change the oil myself though I suppose???

Really frustrated at running engine in
I planned on doing so but, the weather has been extremely crap. It's done nothing but rain these past few weeks. It's due in for the first service at 600 miles. I defiantly won't be redlining it or riding hard. I just want to see what it's capable off.

Really frustrated at running engine in
ok I'll be patient. On the plus side I can go from 1/3 to 1/2 throttle now. I need a good few days (weather wise) to put some miles on the clock. It's pissed it down the past week

Really frustrated at running engine in
That's just one of the many theories available. It won't do any harm if I just what the acceleration and speed is like just once before the 500 mile mark.

Really frustrated at running engine in
No I'm not going to redline it literally, I just want to ride fast enough to be safe and keep up with traffic. Look at this for example http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Really frustrated at running engine in
Nah it won't make a difference. From what I can gather if you redline the engine from day one you get more BHP faster acceleration but poor fuel consumption and a few thousand miles knocked off the overall life of the engine. If you ride it following instructions you get more miles to the gallon, overall longer engine life etc bla blah baahhh.

Few upgrades I'm doing to my XT 125 R.
Glad your ok, damn Ryan it's a good job you didn't plough any cash into the XT. You need to put a claim in and get some compo for your broken leg. My mate got run into on his bike and it broke his leg. His leg is fucked though now. No more footie etc but apart from heavy exercise or use his leg is fine. I take it the XT is a write off then?

Really frustrated at running engine in
Been running my new engine in now strictly adhering the manufacturers instructions. It basically says only use a third of the throttle for the first 300 miles then increase to half a throttle until you reach 500 miles after which you can ride as normal. I have been reading online about different methods and it comes down to the 'ride it like you stole it' method, which means ride it as you normally would (in my case) or the recommended by the manufacturers 'nice and easy' don't accelerate hard or use more than a third/half of the throttle. I am now up to 300 miles and have had enough of pretending to be a Honda Melody. I'm just going to ride my bike as normal. According to my bike manual I should wait until I reach 500 to ride normally but, I have had enough of snarling about. It is in fact dangerous riding around at ridiculously low speeds and accelerating slower a snail. I've done 300 miles following my manual to the very last detail so, I can't see how I can cause any damage to the engine if I start using its near full capabilities. From what I've seen and heard online even if I had off started redlining from the first mile the engine would be 100% fine.

whats the difference !
Google the specs for each model

I have had a great biking Christmas
Nice bike what a beast. I didn't get bought anything but I treat myself to a new jacket and an half decent pair of winter gloves. I think I'm going to get a decent helmet now the sales are on. I've been dying for a full face with tinted visor since first getting on the road.

good to be back
You need to open a photobucket account and post them via that. If your not pretty clued up with that sort of thing it's a pain in the arse.

Done a foamy..
Nice purchase, any chance of a few pics?

Fuel injection/non carb engines
A 30 year old bike without a kick start. DAMN! I thought it was the last 5 years they had started getting rid of them. When your bike was new it must of been top end and cutting edge.

Crashed today - all ok
Glad your ok and your bikes not too damaged.

Fuel injection/non carb engines
That's what I meant.

Fuel injection/non carb engines
I'd soon get pissed off with bumping my bike. Also isn't bump starting bad for bikes?
-
Fuel injection/non carb engines
I was thinking speed, once you get to a certain point it would be physically impossible to go any faster. Machines could but humans wouldn't be able to stand the G Force etc.

Fuel injection/non carb engines
Cynic I am happy in fact I'm over the moon I just want to know some technical info about my bike. It's impossible not to be happy with a WR. Everything on it is spot on. I think production bikes have more or less reached their peak performance wise. I can't picture it really enjoyable having a bike capable of 0-60 in one second or some other ridiculous spec.

Fuel injection/non carb engines
Yeah so when your starter motor fucks up you have no choice but to spend £300 on a new one.
