2-way radios
They are both, but to be honest, if you are using them on the bike then it is best to use the ptt button as vox can be very sensitive with the wind noise (or if your buddy starts singing to himself...)

Hi Alex, Good lot of flags you got there however there isn't one for Northern Ireland... are we not as worthy as the rest of the UK?

2-way radios
I use Puxing PX-888 UH 400-480Mhz UHF. These have been used in the UK, parts of Europe and even in the Alps whilst skiing. We haven't had any problems and they seem to have a good range. We got them off ebay and are shipped from Hong Kong I think.

no probs. So far the bike is a work in progress, I have installed some Ghost Brackets which inturn will be used to hold a set of quick release Tsukayu Strong Saddlebags. Also got the supports on for the Tsukayu Touring Trunk. I am also trying to put on a Lindby Multibar (built in highway pegs, sort of). On to that will also go some spot lights. I am waiting to receive some parts so that I can put on Batwing Fairing (removeable). And I am currently enquiring about getting a Mustang Two Piece Wide Touring Seat. Once I have the trunk fitted I am going to look at getting an antenna for the radio (if its not too costly as its not really needed ) Are you planning on any more tweaks for your own ride?

Ok so the unit is actually in a plastic bag down the side of the battery lol The cables then run to the left, with the driver cable running to the tank, then out under the left. Passenger cable comes out just in front of the pegs. Looks like the cables have then temporarily gone back under the seat for storage. Haven't used them since last summer so can't remember the exact set up at the mo.

New Seat XVS 950
I've been thinking of changing out the stock seat for the Mustang Wide Touring Two-Piece Vintage Seat. I think there will be an extra couple of inches width and the seat comes with a backrest. My commute is approximately an hour each way and I am planning another tour to France this summer. We will be riding 2 up on the tour. Seat: http://www.customcru...n-uk/d1987.html - bottom one. Has anyone changed out their seat and find it beneficial or did you discover any problems? Is there any cheaper alternatives to make the long rides more comfortable for both myself and the lady friend? I had seen some gel pads online but I'm not sure if this could lead to slippage? Thanks, Andrew.

What tool to use?
Yeah WD40 would be the obvious first thing to try lol, alas I have not tried that yet , so will be giving it a good covering tonight and then maybe try again on Friday night. Cheers.

XVS 950 Cruiser Lift / Stand
I went for the Sealey MPS4 Four Arm Centre Stand for a bit of extra piece of mind. I'll let you know what I think of it after it arrives.

What tool to use?
Hi everyone, I have been trying to use a wrench and a ratchet wrench to remove bolts to fit engine bars. I need to remove the floorboards, but I can't get the stupid bolts to loosen. I have taken the floorboards off themselves to get better access to the front and rear bolts that attach to the bike. Am I missing a trick or just lacking the strength required lol? Thanks, Andrew.

cheers for the help posting the pics, especially your last post Airhead (turned out to be a crucial bit of info lol)

Mine is under the seat and there isn't any interference (regardless of speed). If I remember, I can take a pic of it tomorrow in the daylight. It is definitely on top of the battery though. Also on a 950 Midnight Star.

The Work has begun...
This is how the code looks, it appears to use the img tags and I used the add image button, but it is still coming up as a link.... clearly I am making some kind of school boy error here??? [.url="http://i1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii504/acboggs/1.jpg"][/url.] I added fullstops as the second and second last characters to prevent it from displaying as a link.

The Work has begun...
Here are a few pics of the little progress I have made so far. Ignor the missing bolt on the belt guard, wasn't amused when I discoverd that one had fallen off. Trunk supports fitted in preparation for Tsukayu Strong Trunk Ghost brackets fitted in preparation for Tsukayu Strong Saddlebags. I couldn't get the Ghost brackets to align correctly when keeping the original pastic bits that go along the back fender, so I have had to make do without Hopefully more progress will be made on a weekly basis... ...pics finally sorted.

XVS 950 Cruiser Lift / Stand
Cheers Bulldog, is there any danger of the bike falling off whilst i'm working on it?

XVS 950 Cruiser Lift / Stand
Quick question: Does anyone have any experience with a lift / stand for a cruiser? I am really looking to keep the bike upright (so that I can install some goodies) rather than lifting it off the ground (however if the price isn't too bad, then something that can do both would be beneficial). Thanks, Andrew.

Hello World
Thanks guys, I had the bike out this morning for the first time since the end of last summer (was left asking myself why I've been waiting so long???) An hour to work this morning and not having to sit in traffic, hopefully should be the same this evening for the return leg. Already had some t*at switching lane without looking and trying to wipe me out .... he got a good honk and a wave of fist for his pleasure, not to mention a good staring down when I overtook him lol (made me feel better anyway). All I need to do now is get all the new gear fitted to the bike asap
