Thats a 2 stroke too, obviously its going to have bigger jets.

Thanks, youve brought me back to earth.. however, the huoniao, was a single cylinder, single exhaust valve, dual exhaust setup, and was indeed shit, by opening it up like I did, didnt that just make it a straight through, as it pretty much was. Whats the deal with straight throughs? If I give my yammy a straight through, and open the intake completely up, then tune the carb to deliver enough fuel, it should be better power at high rpm right? Mid acceleration should be ok, with the needle higher than stock. However I have no idea where the idle mix screw is. It may stall on decel.. Cheerz for this btw.

Cant be bothered to read all previous, as its a sunny day and work is calling... But, may have been mentioned, idle mixture maybe lean, it explains it all, mine is lean and it does the same, going from lean, to a nice mix or rich mix will result is a slight fart or hesitation, as it picks up the fuel flow, air screw might even the mix out, but the fuel is the power and you'll need a bit more, and a bit more air after. from idle, to midrange to WOT, the flow in any carb likes to be constant and steady, and steep rise, or lean/rich mix will confuse the smooth operation. I'd love to know where my idle mix screw is on my xvs.....
  4. I know the 125 has less power, thus less prone to slip, but I run ester in my bike, and its never slipped, any motorcycle oil shouldnt slip. Maybe your clutch springs have heated and cooled once too much and they aint as clampy as they were before, and/or if coupled with worn plates, it may need a new clutch. Synthetic oil, if anything, should prolong the life of a clutch, but thats only if its not shagged to begin with.

I'll keep my eye on the plugs, and I'll adjust it accordingly, I just find it hard to understand how it can run leaner by opening the exhaust, when no extra air has been added. The intake revoloution, and the exhausts revoloution, are seperate, its not overlapping like 2 stroke.

Yeah I know, I got a stock Huoniao chinese rubbish bike, from a realistic top speed of 55, to 80mph, I just gave it a free flowing air filter, and a free flowing exhaust, did the sprockets, gave it a bigger carb and bigger jets and that was it, but it never wanted as much as this dragstar is wanting, and this dragstar is more confined in the intake, and exhaust, and it still wants more, I just find it hard to believe it burning the fuel, I've seen the stream from the main jet up the needle when the box was off, and the fuel delivery is pissing out like a tap and it still feels lean.... It just goes against all 125's I've seen. If anyone knows of a higher jetted 125 I'd love to hear it, I'm just worried that it may take fuel all day without burning it and it flies out the back.

Well, now I've circle drilled the cans, it feels lean again, I know I can go higher, I just didnt think it would take it that lean, I cant believe its burning the extra fuel I'll be putting in, the air intake hasnt changed, just the exhausts, so why would it feel like it wants the needle in its highest position, and a 105 jet. I suppose what I'm asking is, am I burning this fuel as power, or is it flowing out the back, the plugs are fine, I've chopped them, but it still has delays, until the rpm is high enough... then I get some pull.... I just dont want to be wasting fuel, but at the same time, if Its giving me power and stopping my engine burning, then I'm all for it... Its wierd, its like the draggy likes to be asphyxiated.... no matter how big the jets are.

Hi, Just thought I'd mention this as its slightly different to all the other dragstars I've read about. I have drilled holes in the intake letting air float in there more easily, but its kept its standard air filter, as I dont think its that restrictive without the narrow rubber in there and in being drilled at the back of the sheild. The exhausts are circle cut out at the back, and I'm running the needle higher by one notch, and the main jet is a #101 size. The highest I've seen, is a 100 jet, and AFAIK, no one has touched the needle. Is this ok, for what mods I've done because the plugs are fine, no coking or soot. I'm guessing, it should be still fine if I decide to go 2 teeth up on the front sprocket? No lugging if its on the rich side? Thoughts and comments welcome, I like an open audience when I'm pondering something. Thanks.

Calm dogs: Wagging tail = Good Growling = Bad Hyper Dogs: Tearing your face off = Bad Licking your mouth out = Good

Is your bike overfilled with oil?

Tapping as far as I know is bad in any OHC, I don't think these 125's are self adjusting, so I'm hoping there is some sort of gap I can adjust. Either that or my lobes are pitted. Back in the day, I think they may have been a few grand brand new. Noises are a great indicator, keep them all in check and run a good 10w-40 oil and the bike should be smooth, after that I run a certain detergant engine cleaner through my fuel, and it becomes quiet and smooth even more so. If its still making noises, and its not your bottom end adjustments, then there is probably damage somewhere, or something needs replacing. I am not familiar with these OHC's so I'm just wondering what I can learn about them, in order to quieten them down, I don't trust mechanics, no matter how good they are, because when you ask for something done, they follow dealer specs, if it was blowing up, and the service book said not to check for another 1000km, they would leave it.... they all piss in the same bucket of shit. Its so there is more chance if them getting to replace a part and charge a fortune.

Right, now its getting hotter I've had her out and she is definately tappy upstairs, I'm not worried about the chains, as it sounds as if its the clearences between the lobes and the valves, I dont see any adjustment for the valves though?

I agree with you, but if I had kids, or a wife petrified of dogs, I would'nt want to get a 4 year old dog than I dont know, thats for any dog never mid big ones. If it was me I wouldn't be bothered the slightest about getting one thats been aiding people, as I know they are trained to a high standard. You wont find a bigger lover of dogs than me, I cried last night over a dog I lost 6 months ago, then I cried because I felt guilty because I cant remember much of a rotty we had for only one year, lost due to cancer. Any dog from anywhere deserves a chance, as much as I have trusted all my dogs 100%, I wouldn't leave a toddler with any dog, maybe its 99.9%, but its common sense. Things go wrong, even if the dog didnt even mean to and just paniced. For the OPs question I believe an aid dog would be fine. Quoted statement is retracted as its too broad of a sentance and didnt hit exactly what I meant. Toddlers and big dogs is nothing to do with this but it was in my head for when I wrote that sentance... I agree with ya noise, I had just woke up when I wrote it.

A High quality oil is less likley to glaze an engine than a mineral oil. Engines that are new are still rough with the manufacturing process, its not like the old days, its not needed so much now, but it does help. Running an engine in relies on wear and tear, it polishes the rings to match the cylinder walls, providing a better flush seal, preventing blow by and adding more power and life to the engine. Synthetics are so good at protecting your engine that they slow down the wear process, making it hard for the rings to polish themselves to the cylinder barrel. A mineral oil is all well and good at letting wear take place, but if run hard for too long it can glaze the walls of the cylinder. If run too gently though it makes little difference to the seating, due to better engine builds and clearences today. Some engine enthusiasts reccomend a mineral oil to gently warm the engine up, and have a ride to ensure the engine becomes fairly freely moving. Then after a good few heat soaks and a few miles, switch to a semi synth, and give it a blast taking it quite a way up the revs. This is where the seating process begins. It helps to weight up your bike and have pillion passengers, as the explosion is having to push harder to move the piston, thus pushing on the rings and polishing them to the barrel. After about 50 miles, chainge the oil, as tiny bits of metal is being removed each time. Replace with another semi and same again, for about 100 mile. After this is done, they normally switch to a fully synth/ester, and replace after 200 miles, 500, 1000, and so on... and their engine keeps power and reliability for decades.

Anyone got a cheaper parts source for 125 dragstars? I have AJSutton at the moment, but their prices are fucking horrendous.. Simple things are in their hundreds, and bigger things are making their way up to the thousand mark, I couldnt afford that if I was a rock star... wtf do these people think their doin?? Seriously they dont even send the full part half the time... If anyone can name another supplier I'd owe them my life... not ebay, as its not always full of broken draggies. Thanks *Don't quote me on the life thing.... maybe a pint...

I would advise against getting any big dog that you can't bring up from a puppy.

We've had dogs all our lifes, and the best tempered, softest cuddly fluff ball was the rottweiler, we've had two of them, both equally soft. No need to be scared of them as the ones you see often portraid as being nasty, are bred to do it, like any other nastry guard dog. Ours are so soft its unbelievable, they keep their guard sense of responsibility though, they tend to sit outside your room or with you, and will sit near and door they can see through, to watch, if they hear anything suspicious they bark, and when one growls your neighbours will feel it through the walls. Its how they are brought up, when shown love and care, they are loving, but if neglected, or not shown affection, they will come to ignore you and be distant, they arnt extremely fussy either, once they are an adult they will simply sit with you not slobber all over you. Simple set of commands and rules keeps them in check.
