  1. There's a catch with such a great deal? Still I'm sure it will be less expensive than buying one outright. you've come to the right place for help.
  2. Welcome to the forum Eddie1. My bike smokes when cold, but I wouldn't call it thick (and as a two-stroke I think it's to be expected)... so obviously I'm no help at all on that front. But the other members aren't as clueless as myself so I'm sure they'll help you get it sorted. I should suggest that you post an intro in the new member section just to let the folks know who you are.
  3. aboard the boards. I have a non runner too... You've come to the right place to find lots of expertise.
  4. aboard! Sounds like you got a great deal.

  6. sounds like you're gearing up for a great time this weekend. +1 on the pics. I'd love to get a glimpse. Looks like this got posted in the wrong section. Forum help is for technical issues with the forums.
  7. It's customary to introduce yourself in the new member section. Just tell the folks a little about yourself. I don't know if you've seen this site (http://dirtbike.off-road.com/dirtbike/review/yamaha-vintage-dirt-bike-id-guide-21792.html), but it lists the CT series and correspomding years for the starting VINs. Maybe it will help? You may be able to get a rebuild kit from somewhere like this http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_REBUILD_KIT_YAMAHA_P8578C697.cfm. Yambits and eBay may have parts too. I got the manual for my '72 G7S off eBay. I'm sure other folks with more experience will have more (and better) suggestions. to the YOC!

We get the guys in the big diesel trucks who think its funny to belch black smoke in your face too. Nice guys, eh?

+1 And I think some of them do it on purpose.
  13. No kidding... We spent about $125 for gas in my little versa (granted we had about half a tank left when we made it home)... and I have to wait for the travel reimbursement. tbh I could've used an extra day of sleep.
  14. No worries. It's easy to do... stream of consciousness writing. just didn't want you to feel ignored.
  15. I was just up near him (Couer d'Alene) a couple weeks ago, but have never met him. Couer d'Alene is about an eight hour drive from me. I think I have his site bookmarked on my laptop too.
  16. to the YOC Dan. You may get some replies here about the DT200 piston, but this area's for intros so it may get overlooked.
  17. aboard!
  18. to the YOC.
  19. I don't own one, but that's sure a nice looking bike. I'm a sucker for the 70s models.
  20. I've always been on the southeastern side of the state. Raised for about 7 years in Salmon, then moved to Idaho Falls, and now I find myself in Pocatello. Still have family in Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, and North Fork. I miss spending time at my cousin's ranch in Salmon... mainly the horseback riding. They used to have horses, cattle, and goats, but now it's just the goats... and dirt bike riding. How does western Idaho compare with Arizona?
  21. to the YOC Lee.
  22. Welcome aboard darlyj! I too have a project bike ('76 dt175), and even without kids it's not gonna happen overnight. :/ Did I say overnight, I meant in one weekend. Although, overnight would be nice. I hear Arizona's been extremely hot lately... stay frosty.
  23. Thank you both! I once had a manual for this bike too, but cannot for the life of me find it... looks like I'll have to get another one.
  24. Hi all! Years ago I acquired a DT175 that had a seized clutch. The engine number is 559-005931 and the engine number matches. I've done a search of the forum and found this link for the US model identification. It's coming up as a 1976 DT175C on that site, but according to my notes from at least a decade ago it's a 1977 DT175 C. If I remember right I got that information from someone at the local Yamaha shop. Does anyone know if that VIN is from 1976 or 1977? Is there much difference between the '76 and '77 models? I plan on starting a project thread as this bike is now a basket case and I have my work cut out for me... but I'm quite looking forward really. Thanks in advance! Sach
