Hi streaker. to the YOC. I'm sure you'll find you've come to the right place for help. Nayruf has been a great help with my DT (and my G7S for that matter)... hope he doesn't mind me calling him out. I think there are lots of DT owners here that can help too. Post up some pics of both bikes... I think the '77 500 sounds like one I've been eyeing down the street from me, but I'm not certain.

Seems like your mate should be able to take it to a paint shop that can match the paint using a camera that takes a close-up shot and then converts it to the color. At least I think they do that here in the states. ??

Welcome to the forum Eddie1. My bike smokes when cold, but I wouldn't call it thick (and as a two-stroke I think it's to be expected)... so obviously I'm no help at all on that front. But the other members aren't as clueless as myself so I'm sure they'll help you get it sorted. I should suggest that you post an intro in the new member section just to let the folks know who you are.

It's customary to introduce yourself in the new member section. Just tell the folks a little about yourself. I don't know if you've seen this site (http://dirtbike.off-road.com/dirtbike/review/yamaha-vintage-dirt-bike-id-guide-21792.html), but it lists the CT series and correspomding years for the starting VINs. Maybe it will help? You may be able to get a rebuild kit from somewhere like this http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_REBUILD_KIT_YAMAHA_P8578C697.cfm. Yambits and eBay may have parts too. I got the manual for my '72 G7S off eBay. I'm sure other folks with more experience will have more (and better) suggestions. to the YOC!

No kidding... We spent about $125 for gas in my little versa (granted we had about half a tank left when we made it home)... and I have to wait for the travel reimbursement. tbh I could've used an extra day of sleep.
