  1. Ahem. Like girls? You say that like it's a bad thing just to be a girl.
  2. Welcome to the YOC! Start a thread in the projects area if you like and we can all follow along on your restoration journey.

I'm actually quite lucky in that my husband knows a guy who does upholstery (and well). I've picked out the vinyl and he has the foam, but we're waiting to shape and cover it until I have a rolling chassis so that he can fit it proper on the bike. He said he'd just charge me for the materials, and he's going to let me help. I think it's going to be less than $100 all said and done. On another note, I managed to source front and rear spoke sets and have the wheels at the shop to have them laced and new tires installed. I'll likely be taking the motor to them too for new crank bearings and seals, etc.

    Worth A Gamble?

Hahaha! Let me put my surprised look on... What was it, 2pm there? Maybe he's still asleep in mom's basement.
  6. to the YOC. This section's just for intros so there's no telling how good a response to your tech questions you'll get here.

  8. I currently ride an 80cc 1972 Yamaha... and am restoring a 175. Would choose my bikes over hubby's cruiser any day. aboard!
  9. So it should be which came first, the dinosaur or the egg? If dinosaurs were hatched from eggs then the same conundrum still applies. No?

  13. Some things you just can't un-see.
  14. I think the fork oil comes in different weights depending on how stiff/soft you prefer the suspension. The amount of oil would probably be listed in the manual. If all of the old oil isn't drained you'll probably want to measure the height rather than the volume. ?? But others probably have a better idea. I don't have a yzf so I've no idea what all needs done for the fork oil change. I'd recommend getting a manual though.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great after some practice.
  16. Could both seals have gone out at the same time if someone compressed the forks too much (say when tying it down on a trailer)? Could that blow the seals?

Blew up their bike?? That'll show em. hee,hee What is the hill start? Do they have you stop going uphill and then start again? We have some pretty steep hills at intersections around here. I know people who avoid them in their autos with manual transmission. I'm not one of them... I love to work the friction zone.
