So started to strip her today again confidence to do this from Haynes Is this much rust in Petrol tank healthy? What should I do? It has been running fine and there are no leaks from the tank. Also first calamity of the day, to show how the bike looked I just stuck headlamp back on, I forgot and moved bike and crash, broken lens. Doh! another part to add to my list lol Progress picture And another of rear mudguard

WOOHOO Cheers 2Wheels, Right as you can see my rear mudguard has nearly snapped in 2 I have braced it with a steel strip and it is now solid, but I need to find a new one if anyone can help. It is the full mudguard and not one of the half and half ones. I also forgot to mention that I fixed the speedo so the mileage is probably not genuine. Just for the record, Cost so far Bike £100 Haynes Manual £4 including postage from Ebay All bulbs, Flasher unit, Battery, and Rectifier from a local bike garage £30 Spark plug £3 So for just under £140 I've got a running bike but need electrics still sorting. (All Bulbs now blown)

Hope this works 2wheels

Sorry will try again LOL I will get there in the end

If this has worked then you should see pictures LOL As you can see she is not a minter but she only stands me a £100 which I think is cheap as chips So the Story so far I brought the bike as a none runner about three weeks ago. Did some engine work (Thanks to Haynes) and fiddled with timing and now she is good for 60mph. I also replaced all the bulbs and inline fuse had good electrics for about 10 minutes before everything went bang and all sort of weird and wonderful happenings began. Posted for help on workshop but to no avail, as I wanted to get everything working before I stripped her. So now here is my project and hopefully by stripping and tiding I will find the answer to my wiring woes.

Ok Guys I'm Gareth and I have gotten myself a toy to tinker with. I posted in the workshop section to try and solve a wiring issue but with no success , so I am taking it to the bones and hopefully tidying it up.(and finding the issue with the wiring as I go.) So I am starting a project on here and if anyone thinks they can give my some advice then it will be well recieved. Cheers Gareth

Thank you again I've tinkered with it again and removed the 3 pronged flasher unit which then got all electrics working, but when indicators were on they flashed alternately with the main lights, and when i revved the bike all lights blew out Grrrrrrrrrr I think i may leave the electrics until i've stripped the bike right back. Going to take it to the frame, and start to renew it all. Maybe the wiring may sort itself out when I start to put it back together. Thank you for everyones advice. Will start a new post which will show beginning and after pictures. Keep up your advice and help as it is still much appreciated. Cheers Gareth

Sorry yes i ran a wire through a fuse, direct to the red wire on the ignition, and also spliced it so it went to the rectifier as shown in Haynes. When i turn the ignition on there should be power from the brown wire but it never appears. Think you got the nail on the head with the magneto, that will explain why only headlights and taillight working. One problem solved Thank you for advice again Gareth
-
Okay i have bypassed the red wire which was already there and have gotten power from the battery to the ignition. but now the power will not come through the ignition. when the bike is running i have power to the lights, but not the side lights or break lights, and the indicators and horn still don't work. Maybe i have got a wire crossed somewhere but if anyone has had similar problems any help would be appreciated. I must thank oldgitonabike for all his input, it is really helpful, but unfortunately not got to the source of the problem. Thank you for all the advice and keep it coming Cheers Gareth

Thank you Yes i tried the rectifier both ways just incase but still no power from battery getting anywhere. Can all the Gnd wires be put together or do some of them have to have separate GND to others? Sorry if i am not making myself very easy to understand, but your help is very welcome. Thank you Gareth
