  1. i know this is a bike forum, but im confused and cant find anything online this morning on my way into work i was stopped at traffic lights, when a car run into the back of me. this caused me to bump the car infrint. my car appears to have no damage, but the car onfront has 50 quids worth of damamge, and the car behind (that caused the accident) is awaiting comformation on costs - none of them are wanting to go through insureance. The car that i hit, went to the garage straigth after the accident and the garage phoned me asking me to pay the repairs if we werent wanting to go through insurance. Should i be? or should it be the car that caused the accident to settle the bill? HELP thanks, Matt
  2. thank god! haha last oil chang was oil and filter about 300 miles ago . .
  3. well i have the car aswell, so it wouldnt be used between december - feb, but i wouldnt mind another yammy! was looking at the xj6n and mt03, but the Fazer seems a good shout! will need to check autotrader/gumtree/fleabay
  4. so, my xj600n is back out the garage and ready for its MOT this weekend, few things i noticed were that there is a slight knocking noise coming from the bike when idle, was on yourtube and it sounds like it the norm for these bikes? also, in exitment to get out for a spin i put 2 stoke into it . . .(thanks to my old man not correcly labaling the fuel cans) after i noticed i emptied what was left of the tank, and filled with fresh fuel, but its still smoking like a chimney. is there anything i should do prior to my next trip on it? e.g. sparkplugs fuel filter ect? thanks! Matt
  5. so, my restriction is due to be removed on my lincence in june, and i was thinking of getting a newer bike as an upgrade. Currently got a 1997 XJ600n, and that is about as "sporty" as im wanting, dont realy like full fairing race/sports bikes like the r6, r1 ect - dont find them suitable for commuting 60+ a day. any ideas? i quite like the xj6n, but wudnt mind something with a bit more power availability. . thanks
  6. seen that at the weekend ! i though it was funny :L but im cruel :/
  7. what a joke, i bought soem spark plugs for my xj and now it wont even run ! . . . . .cant think why :L had to laugh at the piston return springs, wonder how many people actaully buy this stuff?
  8. it would have been purely for cosmetic reasons, but i managed to clean them up with a wire wheel drill bit
  9. i think im goign to keeep my eye out for one of these, sounds like there fun, think my Xj's getting a bit tired so its time for something new soon!
  10. sounds like a beast of a machine ! there was a suzuki RGV250k doing over 100 aswell, im lucky if my xj600n does that ! haha
  11. now i dont know much about these bikes, so would someone please enlighten me : was looking at this website http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/Accused_Home/SpeedVSFines/SpeedVSFines.htm if you scroll down about a quarter of the way you will see "uk Prosecution Examples" and when looking at the types of vehicles came across the rd350r, that seems fast for a 350? whats the top speed of them ? i want one .. . . haha
  12. i had my bike restricted for the first year, but after that they plates came out of the carbs, in my XJ it was like washers in the intel manifold, which restriced the air/pertol going into the bike, simple enought to remove and put in yet cost 250 quid? they washers cud be machined at home if you had the correct drawings, its a waste of money! on the insurance side of things, if you remove them your insurance is void as its goign against your modifications, after doing my bikesafe, it was pretty much said that if you dont decliar your bike is restricted to inurance your insurance wont be void for not having them on . . . but you will be driving against your licence's type? if you get what i mean . . the new restrictions coming into force in Jan, are just making it harder for young people to get on the road on a big bike, i dont see why they are making it harder than it already is - what would happen if they came out and said to all new car drivers they are restriced to a 1L car for 2 years ? people would be up in arms. . . .anyway, enough ranting for a monday morning
  13. this has got me thinking . . . the moto guzzi i am doing as a project, im going to be restoring up to origonal, with newer tech where safer e.g. hoses ect, but i was planning making it so i can tranform it into a cafe just by changing the bars, seat mudguads exhuast ect. most cafe racers dont have a rear mudguard as such, like sitting over the weel, so would it not be up to the person to argue that there is some kind of mudguard in place ?
  14. as i have 3 years no claims on my bike, i was keen to hunt around for the same kinda insurance company as you are looking for when i got insured for my first car. being 19 and male getting first insurance for a car was allways goign to be costly ! haha i tried the carol nash 6 wheels things, but it turned out to be more expensive than insuring them sepretly - i suggest "insurethebox" the box for car but think carefully before selecting them as they fit a tracker to the car, and also there policy's are limited milage. . . but for me. that was the cheapest option at £1500 for a 2002 1.2L clio, that cost £1000! insurance companys are pump.
  15. so when you say prep them right . . what do you mean? i'll be needing to spray my project biks plastics as its neer impossable to get new ones for them anymore
  16. : HAHA! i didnt see why they made so much of a fuss about it tbh - saying that - at this rate it wont be long till the royals have a calender out . . .
  17. that looks like a beast! i seen this and have instantly fell in love with the bike ! think i may just have to keep my eyes out for one for my next bike
  18. if you post a proper introduction then people will be more likely to help you, just a thought.
  19. Hi adam, if you find out would you be able to post on the site? the bike i am currently restoring has damage to the VIN stamp Thanks!

  21. thanks for clearing that up, our garage is like a scrapehap the amount of frames, and bikes in it - would take days to get them all sorned :L
  22. right, so where do i stand with this ? the moto guzzi im restoring is 1982, but has been off the road for since about 1996, i have the log book - dont get any thing through about tax/mot and its not sorned or insured?
  23. guessing you got that numberplate made as a "showplate" if you get pulled with the you'll get nicked cos A) doesnt have the code thing for the garage, and your not allowed to have the personalised bit anymore? correct me if im wrong . .
