the quotes were welll over £1500! if i had that kinda money id be laughing, but unfort i dont. my old man got a quote for the same bike, with his 40+ years experience and no claims - less than £200 . . i cant wait to rack up some decent nvb and expereince numbers for myself!

my yammy has been sold! :(
thanks! i have started a new piggy bank for my next ride. . . something like this would do me just fine! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201304296504637/sort/recpriceascdefault/usedbikes/model/xjr/make/yamaha/page/1/postcode/ab252tj/quicksearch/true/radius/1500?logcode=p really like the MT-01, but a1700cc block doesnt go well with a 19 year old for insurance!

Free Legal Expence Protection
Came across this company when i was in my local bike shop, and there was people talking about uninsured losses (excess) www.motorcycle-lep.co.uk its free to register, and if your in a non fault accident they will recover your costs. There number is 0800 089 2289 and once registerd on there site you just phone them if your involved in an accident. I am not affiliated with the company other than just being registered myself, but think its well worth it as its free and not everyone gets legal cover with there insurance

SV650s only running on one cylinder above 5000rpm
yeah thats what i thought! they later clairified that they meant pulled in as in to cover the hole, not actually liittle bits coming off and getting sucked into the block

SV650s only running on one cylinder above 5000rpm
Cheers! i thought it was the rear one, but the more and more i read itno it it sounds like its the front thats more prone, i will check these things later on tonight. someone at my work mentioned to me that they had one that was running like shit, and as soon as they took the foam padding off the underside of the tank it ran a treat? apparently its a usual thing for this to be sucked into the top of the filter

SV650s only running on one cylinder above 5000rpm
Appologies, i thought it would be a bit cheeky to put i question about a suzuki in the yamaha clubs technical section - is there a way i can move it?

SV650s only running on one cylinder above 5000rpm
so, not a yamaha, but its still worth asking as all you people are extremely heplfull! basically, the SV i bought is running fine, up untill about 4500-5000rpm, and the one of the cylinders cut out. there was a heap of water in the tank, but thats been drained/cleaned along with all the lines and the carbs, anyone got any ideas as to what to check next? was planning using it this week but since its nae got the same reliability as my yamaha, i decided to take my *caugh* trusty xj *cough* instead. Cheers. Matt

new bike! sv650s
well, for £200 i was expecting it to be a basket! but its not bad, photos dont show the damage on the fairings, will get some this weekend and see what yous think for repairing/painting. but yeah, chuffed to bits with it! got a battery and oil on order, one plug was black, the other was perfect so i might get the ol' vacuam guages out, but other than that shes lovely not a fann of the curvy fairings as such, but they are growing on me!

new bike! sv650s
haha, i was thinking the same! old man came with me to see it expecting a basket case, but shes nice! bit of damage to the fairings, but nothing to major, deffo going to get crash bungs for it like, for all they cost its deffo cheaper than buying new plastics! managed to get her running aswell, drained the questionable fuel ( it was red??) out the tank and flushed the lines, then after a bit of caughing and spluttering she burst into life! with 2 foot flames coming out the exhaust . . may have flooded it! haha the exhaust is next to brand new, i deffo got a bargain!

Advice needed - buying a bike thats been sat for 2 years
not sure if this should be here, or in the general section, so feel free to move it! at the weekend i was in my old work, when one of the wifeys grabbed me asking if i know anyone looking for a cheap bike/project, as my ears tingled, she went onto explain that when her hubby moved away he left her his 1999 Suzuki SV650, and shes needing to move it on. its been sat for 2 years, combination of inside, and outside under tarp, and has damaged fairings from a drop. (not a crash, i know cos i helped her get it back up about a year ago). So chances are the batttery will be knacked, the tires will be flat/perished and the fuel/oil will need changing, but shes only looking for 200 for it, whats everyones opinions, worth it? could potentiall be another suzuki out of harms way, for another rider to get a yammy instead! haha, it would just be a cheep run about, untill i buy a new bike later on this year. Anything i should look out for? Thanks!

Hello, i have just got my yammy back on the road after a similar problem, what it turned out to be was one of the bushings in the starter motor not being fully out, ( had sprung in, but not returned) this may be a possable problem? Regards, Matt

Car accident question
i know this is a bike forum, but im confused and cant find anything online this morning on my way into work i was stopped at traffic lights, when a car run into the back of me. this caused me to bump the car infrint. my car appears to have no damage, but the car onfront has 50 quids worth of damamge, and the car behind (that caused the accident) is awaiting comformation on costs - none of them are wanting to go through insureance. The car that i hit, went to the garage straigth after the accident and the garage phoned me asking me to pay the repairs if we werent wanting to go through insurance. Should i be? or should it be the car that caused the accident to settle the bill? HELP thanks, Matt
