  6. Never got that thundercat - long story short, the gearbox was knackered, and it was crashdamaged. got a insurance quote for a XJ6-N, 370 quid fully comp.. going to glasgow to see it tomorrow! but i kinda want to wait till the MT-09 is out. . . .
  7. cheers guys haha, its for my DIY scotoiler, will post a how to up on here if it works! and i managed to get one, 27p+VAT, you do the maths haha
  8. anyone be able to tell me the name of this things? as you can see from the pic, one side is threaded, and the other side is knurls for attatching a hose to. Need one for my scottoiler project, but dunno what they are called! theres a hole all the way through it Thanks!
  9. i can remember when i got my crosser at 14 and going loony, the novelty was well worn off by the time i was 16 and got my 50cc
  10. so basically i hate my job. Currently working for WGPSN Aberdeen, in office as an apprentice Project Controls Engineer (Costing, estimating, planning etc) i have realised that this is not what i want to do, and despite being promised other opertunities within the company, anyhing is yet to materialise. was speaking to my manager about it and he was saying that during the shutdown period, the contract i am on takes on "greenhats" for extra support - and mentioned that it may be a possibility for me to do this. been looking at doing ether a Stage 1 Rigger course, or Banksman slinger ect, so i have some usefull skills/quilifications to actually get off. Anyone got any advice on where to look for a permanet training position, apprenticeship/trainee scheme etc? ideally would like to go offshore as a mechanical Technician. thainks
  11. going up to have a shot at the weekend, £1500 with a year MOT, and a new tire that was needed for it. with 25k on the clocks would this be about the right price? there is another one advertised in moray for £1450 here - http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/motorbike-1999-yamaha-yzf600-thundercat/1026168489#photo-content
  12. its goign to be a few weeks untill i get it, need to sell my bike first, and the guys going offshore for 3 weeks. But was speaking to him last night, and he put a battery and new plugs in it - fired up first time after a year oldmans popping up for a shot tonight, and if he likes it then will get it taxed and tested for me getting it - woooo
  13. would you not have to set up a company? i looked at doing it and you can set up a LTD company for like 99p online, guessing this is where you got your information? https://www.gov.uk/trade-licence-plates
  14. right, im putting my SV up for sale tonight! DECIDED!
  15. dont get me wrong, would love one! but insurance for me would mostlikely be a problem!
  16. just got some more details and a picture . . . its the 99' model, with 25k on the clocks. http://tinypic.com/r/2jaz48i/5 - link for anyone wanting to see bigger etc. the SV was a big jump up on power from the xj600, but now it seems boring and slow - which its really not! i think its just human nature to allways want bigger, more powerfull and faster. But i do like the idea of the "proper" seat, high handle bars ect, for what i use the bike for, commuting to work, back and forth between mine and my hometown (130 miles round) i think the riding position on an R6 would be jsut to harsh, from what ive seen and heard, these will have no trouble keeping up anyway! (and i'd be keen to break the 150 mark, on private road or track anyway) hope this picture works
  17. looking forward to the power jump, im stepping up the chain nicely what do you mean about the riding experience though?
  18. only a 8 hour drive! haha still keen on getting it, (the one next to me/) despite the "2nd gear problem" will ride it hard in second to see if it pops out, and use the fact it MAY be prone to this fault to knock some £££ off
  19. So was speaking to one of my aunties borthers at the weekend, and as per got onto talking about bikes. was sayign that i had an sv but was looking for something else, and turns out he's selling a Thundercat! went and had a look at it and its clean, has service history and would get taxed and tested prior to sale. asking for 1400, and the insurance is less than my SV, despite the jump in horsepower, guessing because of the "Sport Touring" classification? can mind what year is it, only had a quick look - going back for a proper look and test this weekend. whats your thoughts on this bike?
  20. had a shot of it at the weekend, and my god the race copy goes! the supermoto (the one i was looking at) doesnt half shift aswell like, plenty of torque in all gears, 1st, 2nd, 3rd enough to get the frint wheel up easily! still think its alot of money to spend on a 125 thow . . .
  21. yeah, i would go with the new engine option, and use the experience to learn a lesson!
  22. so, just got both my car AND motorbike insurance renewed! 512 for the car, 211 for my Sv650s - happy days!
  23. when John o Groats was mentioned, thats a really fun road - if ever heading up that direction deffo check out the Berriedale brae, reallly good fun . . . scotlands version of the selvio pass . . . but only twa bends
