  1. Thougth you guys and gals would like to have a look at these. I was looking through a book i found in my draw at work "classic racing motorcycles" and thought id see if i would ever get hold of a 1980 's Yamaha OW48R (HA!!!) yer right they say. http://raresportbikesforsale.com/tag/tz500/ This bloke wants $99.999.999.99 for his. but as the writer say he's open to offers so get in there.
  2. Thats what i thought, Ive gotta take them out again tho, (clutch plates) as when i read the manuel it said to fit the thick plate first then the other type and so on, but i didn't look at the pics and ive got them in the wrong order but its just a case of taking the cluster out and flipping it over. Just that ive now gotta risk the whole "lean the bike over on a colapsable work mate" again ha ha. Thanks for all your help again guys. Should def be on the road end of March / April

Yer i know but sadly i have no room to take decent pics at a distance. Most of my pics are taken close to my chest or with me crouched down on the floorc ha ha.
  7. Come on feliks get it right FFS!!
  8. Cheers for the info guys and i can thankfully say now that its fixed (sort of) i left my phone at work last night but if i had it i could have shown you the dodgy thing i did to fix it ha ha. well im building the bike on a carpenters work mate (step dad fully built his 883 Hardley on it so i know its strong) but as i couldn't get to the sump plug i tipped it over and lent it against the wall to get the oil on the other side of the motor so i didn't loose too much oil as i took the clutch cover off. Well just to make sure i did every thing to book i took off the pressure plate and the clutch plates and the BB and rod and put them back in as per the book, then adjusted the little rod / nut thingy and now the clutch lever returns as it should. But when i kick her into gear and pull the clutch (i see it working as left the cover off to watch it) then spin the prop shaft the clutch isn't disengaging. Would i be right in saying as the motor has been sitting for a while that this is just down to the plates being stuck together and she just needs to be rocked once built to free them up? had to do that every morning with my 125

  10. Love them lights man! nice and clean with the indicators built it. And again in sexy gloss black!
  11. Two ways the cap is loose, either the tabs on the cap have worn down so a new cap needs to be bought or the little lugs on the fuel tank theat the tabs of the cap lock onto have worn doen a bit so you maybe able to adjust/bent the tabs to grip better or sadly a new metal tank needs to be bought.
  12. The Haynes Museum is a cracker, its only a 5-10 min ride for me but would be more than happy to meet any of you guys or gals at a location and ride down to Haynes. If not what ever events are on and im able to get to them i will do my best, but think id draw the line at 300miles poss 400.
  13. Nope I def put the BB in as I was concerned about losing it so that's not the problem.
  14. I always wear my tin foil helmet, but some times I wonder why they would want to read my mind.
  15. No not tight, I can move it but not quite sure what feeling I'm...um.... Feeling for when I know it's back to where it should be and when I let go it slowing comes up again. But I only tried this for about a minute as I was getting very chewy and the wife forced me in doors with a cuppa and a rolly
  16. O and no I didn't take the lever out nor the gear box as all I needed to change was the crank.
  17. Right yes it's a push. In the center of the pressure plate there is a rod and ball bearing and dip shit here didn't adjust the f ing thing to take up the slack. (insert wanker comments) But yes Dt it seems that the clutch release mechanism has popped up but as its so tight to the bottom of the rear cylinder it's not fully out.
  18. Hang on gunna have to get me Manuel out the shed and find out. Thing is if I just take off the clutch cover the release lever is on the other side of the engine so won't be able to get to it.
  19. Well what a night that was! Pissed off is slightly an under statement to say the least. Started off by getting the throttle grip sorted (now running a single pull cable) then moved onto putting the clutch lever on. Connected it up pulled it and it just stayed pulled in, didn't return?? So checked to see if I run the cable wrong but it's fine not pinched or nothing. So looked at the lever that's on the engine and it's popped up and is as limp as a dead dog. Stuck it in gear and pulled the clutch then turned the prop shaft and the clutch dose not disengage. So, I'm now going to have to strip the whole #@***$¥§ thing down again to find out whats gone wrong unless you yoc gods can think of any thing I can do? Or would you know why it's happened? I followed the Manuel word for word so not sure what I've missed. So not very happy at the moment as it seems like I've just pissed 8 months down the drain. Any help will be beneficial to betty as I near on presented her with a lump hammer. Much love
  20. I dont need to use lube.............................i have a big thick prop shaft...................um still sounds dirty. Lets start again. Hi Im Noise and have a dragstar which has no chain so i do not have to oil it. I mainly use WD40 on a rag and wipe it over every thing bar the brakes, if you see some little puddles of water on the bike spray some Dubs on it and it will push the water out and away from the bike. ACF50 is brilliant too, just like sticking another skin over the bike which the water just runs off. But again make sure the chain is maintained correctly and well lubed as just like sex....its not nice getting a dry tight spot
  21. I wouldn't do it in the summer mate, too much riding your miss out on and is the best time to get the miles in. But if your within a 50mile radius of Yeovil i dont mind popping out on the bike (once finished) and giving you a hand. Pay me with tea and biscuits (ginger nuts will do fine)
  22. Personaly i would take the swing arm out and strip and paint it as then you know every bit of dirt and rust is off and is painted nicely. Nothing worse thannot being able to reach one bit and you stand back to look at your work to see a nice shiney black swing arm with a blob of rust and dirt in the spot you missed. Its not that hard to do and can be done in the space of the wife making you two cups of tea. (rememebr the first cup is to make sure she can make one and the second one is the one you drink ) Hammerite direct to rust is very good paint and if you really want to go over kill prime it with some Red oxide and rub down with 400 - 800 grit wet and dry between each coat, (4 coats will do the trick)
