  1. Merry Christmas guys and have a good new year. HOPEFULLY the Bobber should be finished end of January (if not sooner) and maybe able to get out on a few rides with some of you?
  2. Cafe racer rear end you can buy fully built (ebay) check out this post Chuck a set of clip on handle bars on and a pair of old sckool bar end mirrors (again ebay) Remover all useless crap that your not gunna need. And thats it. Job jobbed.
  3. I am chilled very raley get on my high hourse (come to think of it last time i went on a mad one was during bayonet training in the army....lol) any way back on topic. my statement "please feel free to put me right as im always keen to learn." wasnt a dig or any thing like that i was being serious, I dont know every thing......and any man/woman says they do is a liar so i am always happy to be put right and shown a better way of doing things.
  4. Here is a quick pic of my XVS 125 when i was mocking up the seat. You can see the masking tape hanging over the sides from my cardboard template and you can prob still make out the cardboard under the fibre glass lol. Once i was happy with the design i then made it into 2mm think sheet metal in which i cut slits in the sides to mould it around my frame and then welded the flaps shut then added foam and leather. If i do any more fibre glassing before January i will post up a step by step "BASIC" guide.
  5. If you look i said to start off with a "MOCK UP" part thus meaning you dont do any prep work to your bike to fibre glass it bar the fack your spending a few hours making the part you want out of cardboard for a template. Yes if your are going to "repair" or "Fix" body pannels or fibre glass a part to your bikes body parts then all you will need to do is get a good sheet of 80 grit wet and dry and scratch the shit out of that part so as the resin and matt gets a good grip on the part. Also i did say its EASY to master the basics (which it is) if your wanting to build a whole bladdy car then it wouldnt sound so easy but seeing that Kelum is only going to be making small items and maybe even repairs then its going to be a doddle. Ive only repaired 6 car bumpers, modified my Toyota MR2's spoiler, built my XVS 125's solo seat from scratch, built two fenders for the 125 (which i admit went in the bin as i didn't like them) and i also built a mock up seat pan to send to Chicago for the guys over there to build my seat i have on my 650 dragstar now so i think is ok to say i know the basics of fibre glassing. If not please feel free to put me right as im always keen to learn.
  6. I have done a bit of fibre glassing and its quite easy to master the basic's. first off id start off with doing a cardboard mock up of the item you want to make using LOADS of masking tape as this way its easy to move about but once you start building up the layers it becomes stiff. Once you have your mock up part start cutting up your fibre glass mat into short strips and make up a small pot of resin (if you make to much resin it will go off before you get round to using it). NOTE that you will need to wear gloves for this as the resin gets hot and WILL not come off clothing so also wear scuffs. "BRUSH" some resin onto the surface then place a strip of mat ontop of that then "DAB" some more resin onto the mat to stick it down. repeat this but over lap the mats........once your pot of resin is empty re-fill and carry on. Once you have finished this layer wait till its dried they add another layer till your happy its strong (wont take no more than id say 3-4 layers depending on the size of the item your making) lastly once totally dry get out some wet and dry sand paper and sand down all the big lumps till smooth, the crack out the body filler and fill in all the little holes and sand that down too. Then primer it and paint. Job done
  7. Yes i agree....there needs to be MORE shocking TV advert on at prime time! and i think that as part of your car AND bike theory test you should first be shown a video like this followed by some real life photos of RTA's to show people if there gunna be a twat on the road then this is whats gunna happen!
  8. Its the same with alot of forums. Im a member of 4 different forums n all of them need a image code to upload the picture. dont panic photobucket is free and its also a good way to store your pics off your phone and camara to free up memory space
  9. Sign up to photobucket.com and upload your pics there (you can send them via text from your mobile) then they will come up with an image code under them when you hover your mouse over them. Copy and paste that image code into your post on here and ET VALA! picture onto yamaha owners club.
  10. Can i just say that BOLTING ON parts to a cruiser will create a chopper...........REMOVING all the useless chrome bolted on parts creates a bobber. No Harley part will fit onto this bike (except for badges) unless you wanna spend loads of cast getting them re-fabricated or your willing to going metal bashing and welding a shot? You are going to have to make a lot of stuff your self as parts are like rocking hourse shit but thats all part of the fun! If you want ape hangers you will need to extend your cables, But again measure before you buy. Just something to consider.
  11. Bit of a shitty Christmas prescent tho hey!.............bom bom lol Sorry had to throw that pun in lol
  12. Hey berniebee, if you are worried about the name thats on the lid then i would stick with the names you know (thats what i would do) but i would go with what DirtyDT said, go and do what women do with shoes.......drag your missus out and go to 4 different helmet shops and try on LOADS of different helmets......once you been to all four DIFFERENT shops go back to the first one and buy one from there! Pay back AND you get a nice day out and you get to perv at some bikes on the way!
  13. Hey, and welcomer to the site! ANY thing is possible if you are willing to put the man hours in and are prepared to wait for it. I couldn't see the pic on google so if you find it and copy n paste the web URL in here so we can see what your after and also post a pic of your bike using photo bucket then im sure we can go from there.
  14. Hey guys, I now have my old carbs back from my mate who kindly broke them and then bought me a new set so if any one here would like any spares ie diaphrams etc then feel free to PM me for info and whiskey toakens. The diaphrams are in perfect condition and so are majority of the other parts. One carb is complete the other ones outter shell is snapped so is just for spares. Kind regards Noise

    She is not Happy

Well at least his wing mirrors were not attacked lol! i would have thought that they would be the first and most fun thing to smash lol
  17. Just had another look tho........that tank looks good as it is to be truthful! it actually goes really well with how the bike is!
  18. Looking good! How about instead of black on the tank try a dark green and also a dark green on the rims? photo shop it n see what you think? Also are you putting a sprung seat on or is this how it will be? just that the rear end looks incomplete to me. All the best Noise

    My Bobber project

Just found a picture of her on the day i picked her up! Out with the tool box n off with all them horrid optional extras! She had the following bolted on: Fog lights with an old bit of metal used as a fog light bar which was drilled into the yoke! Engine crash bars with criuse foot pegs Rider and pillion floor boards Saddle bag bars Sissy bar and rack. Took me a whole day to remove all this crap and i had to drill out a good hand full of bolts alond the way!
  20. Not exactly the brightest sparks in the box hey! im shocked! COME ON!!! i cant believe no one else has started the puns before me! lol
  21. Hey Nick welcome to the site!, I too have ADHD and i class it as a gift not a problem and i hink its quite Normal to be crazy lol (non of these "normal" people will understand) wack up some picks of ye ol' motorsickle and im sure we can chip in and help ya out.
  22. Thanks for all the advice. but i will just say that me and my bike will not go any where near snow id much prefer to have four wheels in them conditions or my own two feet lol. I have pondered more about this knobbly tyre and am still in two minds as i have now decided not to go with the Springer front forks (but i could change my mind again) so at this moment in time im looking / thinking about a set of up side down forks so they may look strange with a knobbly tyre.....but then again some motor cross bikes have USD forks so it may look ok? we shall see i guess
  23. If this aint in next years Darwin awards im not gunna be impressed lol

Well she's finally coming together, engine is now in, the carbs and fuel pump is on, coil packs on, swing arm and mono shock in, mono shock cover is in place and looking pretty with the S/S P clips, every single nut bolt and washer is now stainless steel and copper greesed up, and lastly the wireing loom is on. Tomorrow i will have the air filter on and may even have the forks and front n rear wheel in.
