Thought id post a quick before and after. Here she is on the day i picked her up from the shop And as she stands today (well last week end) Do any of you know how easy / hard it is to put a You tube vid together? thinking about doing one once she's finished using all the pics i've taken during the build.
  2. These Universal pipes are basically slip on's and will require you to cut the end cans off your pipes and slip / weld these ones on so they are great if your building a one off bike from scratch or very shit once you have them on your door step scratching your head trying to figure out how to fit them with out cocking up ye bike Are you going to do you big boys test?
  3. Very dark and dirty by the looks of things Plenty of time to get this sorted, so lets not start bitching about it just yet. I like the T-shirt Tommy posted just then but ho about the Red YOC 5th annual Meeting bit staying on the front then the pic and the "life behind bars" on the back???
  4. Yer just a little nip up and its should have a little rubber O ring on it to stop the oil coming out when your riding a long. if you wanna give it that little bit of stay in power then a very small drop of pink lock tight will do the trick.
  5. Hi Duki, Pipes are a doddle to fit but thats as long as the nuts and bolts aren't fucked with rust (as campy said above) the hard part is to actually find a set of aftermarket pipes, item of this nature for the XVS 125 are like watching a rocking horse taking a golden shit. but so happens that there are still a few places that still do them £150 for the slash cuts plus P&P brings you to about £200ish http://www.customcruisers.com/Custom2005/customshop2005_copy/contents/en-uk/d1935.html
  6. Im ahppy with the pic, can't see the colour of the t-shirt but can only imagin its day glow pink, (which im cool with)

You will need a 18mm socket and a sledge hammer, slide the socket over your nuts and slam it home with the sledge 'ammer

It's a brand new battery so no need for a new one (for now) but yes she's a trickle charger.
  12. Yes I am but for some reason women take a vow of selabasy on the wedding day and have a life long head ache.

Well seeing that it's been a gorgeous day we had a little bbq and I had to bring betty out to join in and here are some pics of how she looks. I'm just itching to get out in her now. Having her QA check by the dog and Nikkita Happy to say that she smells ok and the brake peddle goes up and down ok.
  14. Yer as campaman said rust must defiantly will be the reason it's seized. Also new fluid will make the brakes work better as you never know how long it's been in there.

No ribbing from me here, you mods do a great job. How many "active" mods are there? And is it enough to manage the site.

Yer thats what im hoping the wife will get me for my Birthday but i highly doubt it. wouldn't mind getting a winter hack bike so as that Betty wont suffer through the nasty sheet.
  18. So i guess its just Robinsons for you at Squires? Don't think Bippo's box will fit on the back of Betty but im happy to give it a try.

Well things are rapidly slowing down with things to be done Clutch is now working fine, and thanks to DT502001 the fuel leak is long gone. (thanks again) I made up a rear light bracket Monday night and fitted it to the rear of the bike to see what it looks like, i just need to tidy it up now with an angle grinder so there are no sharp edges etc. I was given a free set of wing mirrors by the stepdad on the weekend which look ok, still not 100% keen but least i have one on for the MOT. But thats it, i have next to fuck all to do on her now and im kinda sad, soon there will be no more nights in the cave listening to planet rock, swearing, getting covered in oil, WD40, brake fluid, metal shavings walking into the tool box, getting smoke in the eye from my cig and all that other good stuff. Still, i suppose i could always learn to ride again
  21. Hi Tom, First things first id get onto here http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/xvs_650_drag_star/97-04/picture/stainless_steel_piston_and_seals_front_caliper/ and buy the Stainless steel pistons and seals before you go any further. The pistons should "just" pull out, but as you have a problematic one you may benifit from using a bit of WD40 to get it lubed up then get a set of mole grips and turn the piston as you Gently but firmly pull it out. Once both pistons are out, remove old seals and give the whole caliper a good clean with some thing with brake dust remover. Install new seals and Stainless steel pistons and say good bye to seezed pistons for ever.
