I have only had one this week, pulled out in front of me but they did make eye contact with me, so i followed them a good 4 miles till they pulled over. I stepped off the bike and didn't say a word to this person (thought id see what they had to say) So out of his wind hole came this. "can you please not drive that close to my car your intimidating me and i don't like it!" I then just pointed out that i don't like it when half whits such as his self make stupid driving errors and find it difficult to see out of a thin sheet of glass and are trying to stop me from going home to see my family. He then said sorry and he will keep and eye out for bikes a lot more harder, but then told me not to ride so close to cars as that is dangerous too, i said that his comment is noted. Two lessons learned

Hey drewpy do you know of any web sites that sell after market parts for the 650? I'd like to get an 1100 but there aren't many out there at the price i want to pay, two where on e-bay at the good price but have now gone. so its looking like its gunna be the 650 but would most likely tune it for more grunt.

Well im at a cross roads already with this project already........................!?? do i go for the XS 650 with all the looks of a chain, but in order to get some more speed out of it i can then change the sprokets etc etc, or do i just go for a XS 1100 with the prop shaft but have all the power and speed that im after? I have found a few 1100 on Ebay that will be a good donor bike but also i have found a good 650. any of you ever own one of these n what are your thoughts?

Yer prob best to get a new frame and matching V5, and again as 2 wheels said they dont differ much so im sure they will just be a un bolt and bolt on jobber. why not start up a projects thread with it down in the projects section? would be cool to see how it comes together

Again that takes a good week or so to evaporate till the grip............um grips

I wouldn't use gay bar lube to get them on, just because once the grip is on you will find that the Vaseline will keep it lubed for ever and you will have a slippy grip, best to use GT85 it smells great and lubes it up great and after an hour or so it evaporates and you get a firm grip (double pun) Can you post a pic of the handle bar and the in side of the grip at all? Is you new bars got dimples or indents to run cables through? if so then thats your prob, what happens is when they make the bars and put the dimples in they de-form the roundness of the pipe making it....................well..............not round, so your nice new "round" grips wont go over the slightly wider bar. Sadly there is only two way to get round this, Either don't push the grip up that far (making sure the throttle grip is the same) or grind the flat bits down a bit at a time till the grip fits. Have a look and report back

Hi Geoff, what sort of damage is on the frame? is it just bent or snapped? there are companies out the that can fix frames to save you having to buy a new frame and V5 etc etc, you will have to go get it checked out after so that it shows the insurance companies that its fit for the road again (but will most likely become a Q plate but don't quote me on that bit tho) Your best place to find things is E-bay. O and DT502001 he has a Honda VFR and a Yam Thundercat not a Honda thundercat I see what your saying..........it sounds a bit dodgy but a mate of mine at work buys stolen recovered stuff as it is cheaper than buying them second hand etc etc, normally just need a few touch ups then he either turns them into track day toys or flogs them on once all the tests and all the red tape shit is sorted.

Shit i thought it would have taken you longer to guess! yes its gunna be an XS 650, sadly i would have liked to do a 1100 but cant find one cheap enough to call a "donor" where as i have found a 650 that is at a good price and in such condition i maybe able to haggle. I cant flipping wait! now this REALLY is going to be a one off, right from a custom frame tins etc etc, all i will be using from the donor will be engine, wheels, i may use the forks but all depends, and then the rest will be sold on e-bay, (bar the frame.......i will keep that in the man cave)

Well its not my first adventure but I will just give you a story of how great motorbiking really is. Rode to work this morning loverly sunny warm weather, at work for 10 hours.......still gorgeous weather, clocked out ready for the mad dash through the gates and then dun dun duuuuun!!!! Fucking tsunami. Riding home in the worst rain possible, 9 or so miles on duel carrage way at a steady 70 (open face skid lid and the rain soon feels like nails being thrown in my gullet. Cock soon buggered off up with my lungs for some warmth and then you have the Mr fuck nobber in his nice warm cage cutting you up with no indicator as he cant figure out what the little stalk is on the steering wheel but I digress. Finally got home to a warm towel and fresh clothes and talc powder for my feet (joys of a wife) but I had to make my own cuppa tea. In summary, riding bikes is as fun as you make it, man up and remember.............skin is water proof.

Well here's a little story for you, At work i park my bike down by the smoke hut, one because im down there a fair bit, two its a good chance i can get a space there and three its out the way. Well i was down there just now and this twat comes over and starts poking and prodding and playing with it.........in front of me. So i just politely said "stop touching my bike" in a nice tone etc etc. His reply was "well im only looking" "well i thought you only look with your eyes, unless you blind!?" (me) "no need to get shitty with me" (him) "well give me your car keys and i will go have a LOOK at your car" (me) "get fucked your not touching my car" (him) "well then touch my bike again and i will brake your fingers" (note im still not resorting to foul language) "I'd like to see you try!" And touches the bike again! So summary is............ he stopped touching my bike and went and popped his finger back in its socket.
