  1. Just been doing my oil change on the Divvy and the one thing I've noticed is masses of piting on the oil filter and general crap in behind the pipes. Are fender extenders worth it? Not the prettiest of mods, relatively easy to fit and not too expensive. Thoughts? Cheers! C.
  2. Just ask your friendly local MoT station. You should get n answer straight away. Personally I think it is necessary but I do remember seeing some choppers recently without them. Although it may be relative to how the original 'registered' bike left the factory.
  3. Blooming heck, I suppose its easier than changing the missus...
  4. Cheers man, I'm pretty familiar with the service schedule and all additional info appreciated. I was just curious if anyone did it sooner on the older bikes for any reason.
  5. Tine is here for a m first service on the the Divvy since I bought it, about 4k down the line. Went for an oil and filter deal from Busters. How long do folks give it before doing an oil change?
  6. You want happy feet? How's about you meet my mother f***in 12lb club! kants!
  7. Not long gone from a Duchinni to a caberg V2rr. The Caberg is nice, not as noisey as the Duch, the flip down visor is handy too. Good sharp rating and not fogged up in me much. look at your budget as there's loads of choice.
  8. Nice post mate, never seen those vids before, shame you have to go on line to see some ads!
  9. I'm at the same mileage on my XJ600n, gonna leave it for now. The head gasket is just starting to seep a wee bit so I'll get it all done then. I wouldn't worry about it mate.
  10. Love my XJ600N (98). Just put around 4k miles on it. Got a wee givi screen on it which helps on the motorway but a great bike all round, even with about 20kg of dead weight strapped to the back. Recent tank fill proved 60mpg!

    R6 v XJ600N

Currently got an XJ600N as my first big bike. Absolutely love it mate, easy to ride, take care of and more than capable. Loadsa spares out there if you need them too. Go for the XJ! planning on an XJR1300 next if I get a real itch for something bigger!
  12. I reckon I'll get another year out of the Divvy before I'm in the mood to change, maybe not, but I'm really taken with the XJR1300 not sure what year but probably a revised one from 2007. Any thoughts?
  13. So, had a look around and everything looks pretty much the same, I guess it all comes down to how well you look after the battery. I've seen these 'Motobatt' units advertised around and was wondering if any had any experience of them, they're only a few quid more than Yausa etc..any thoughts? Cheers in advance peeps!
  14. My Divvy (98 XJ600N) will return 64ish-mpg on a big run, motorways @ 70ish. Regular running will still see around 60mpg, although I'm not the fastest of riders and there are some that will say the Divvy is not the most interesting of bikes. Suits me fine )
  15. Why not go 4 into 1? Have you looked into custom options, either part or full?
  16. This came up over a pint the other night.. When was the last time you saw a motorbike ad on tv? Why are there none now? (Honda doesn't count! It's a brand ad.) Aren't there supposed to be more & more of us around? What's going on?!
  17. I know its all Bandit here and fazer there but... and it may be a bit old school by now but my first big bike and still have it is a 98 diverson N 600. Came with a restriction cert (and the bits) too. I'm only 5 10 at about 13.5 stone but I regularly carry a shed load of gear and get about 55mpg. It's damn easy to work on, reliable, cheap to insure and really easy to remove the restriction plates. cost me £900 about a year ago. 19k on the clock. Just a thought.
  18. Hey folks, anybody used one, thought of getting one or seen one. Wondeing how good these are? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Crystal-clear-headlight-Yamaha-XJR-1200-1300-SRX-XJ-600-N-/320855364667?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4ab478543b Curious about beem pattern etc...
  19. Mate, ain't you gonna have major issues keeping you carbs balanced? Why not just put in a big K&N replacement filter to the airbox? really not much difference and you'll probably not have to concern yourself with rejeting your carbs either.
  20. Mate, hi... my divvy's restricted *coughs* too and they're fitted *ahem* at the inlet ports as mentioned above... though its a 98... easy job to check; tank off, air box off and without taking the rubbers off you should be able to see them, if that's what your kit is...
  21. Sorry, I'm a fud... cheers for no-one taking the piss.
  22. Hey folks, hope you're all well. I believe the head gasket is weeping on my divvy. I don't fancy attempting the job by myself and am wondering what an honest mechanic would charge for this repair. In east lothian, any recommendations for garages would be great. Cheers in advance!
  23. Hey folks... I need to stiffen the rear suspension on the divvy as carrying quite a bit of gear. I've told it's just a big C spanner and a wee twist. Any pointers, can't find much in my documents. Cheers All! C.
  24. Yup ^ I can confirm that when I switch on my divvy the only thing lit is the Green neutral light. No red oil light.
