YBR125 Indicator fault - solved
Glad to hear you sorted it, Why don't you change the title of this thread, you can edit your own post to "YBR125 Indicator fault - solved" and perhaps you could mention where you located the main fuse on the bike for others benefit should they have a YBR125 with the same problem. Every little helps!

'70 - '80 DT175 owners advice on the bike and any recommended modifications?
Owners advice: Easily obtainable spares. Lots of used spares available. Lots of new genuine/ pattern parts available Some genuine parts are NOT available....but can be sourced from any combination of the above!! Perishable parts DON'T last forever! You will need to keep an eye on some of those, don't expect a 30 year old tyre to be reliable or trustworthy!! Cables need attention, chains wear if not maintained, Runs on petrol and oil, don't forget either! Easy to work on Reliable Can develop problems ALL easily solved with maintenance, attention and/or replacement Robust. lightweight, (can be an issue in gale force winds I won't ride mine in beaufort 8 plus) Good on and off road. Brakes work fine, no need to modify, you're NOT riding a rocket!! Electrics:- lights and running are all reliable however,light/battery can be modified to 12v (don't expect a light show though!) Engine: 2 stroke....need i say more? Has a good following on this website, lots of support. Bike gets dirty if you use it! Bike stays spotless if you don't Have I forgotten anything?

DIY Fibre Optic Rear light bulb monitor
Damm well hit a pot hole on the ride home last night!! took out my rear light bulb!!! saw the 'light go out' on the dashboard! Not to worry......turned on the emergency bicycle light LED and rode home! Put a new bulb in this morning and all working again. Nice to know it all works, not just in theory! I'm a happy chappy!

tail light keeps blowing
Not that it will resolve the blowing of the bulbs, but this may be of some benefit to you a cheap effective means of monitoring the situation............. Plus when i had the same problem I also fitted a bicycle LED at the back as a "get me home solution" in case the bulb did blow again. I've actually used it for one night in 2013. Got me home 'legally' showing a red light at the back until i could put a new bulb in at home.

changing my head lamp bulb
To get at the bulb Blackhat offered you a solution in the 4th post.. Once the screw is undone either prise the rim as suggested or you may need to turn the headlamp anticlockwise by hand to 'unlock it'. It should become apparent once you've located the screw........

changing my head lamp bulb
Get a short length of wire, attach one end to the +ve battery terminal, hold the headlight bulb metal casing to the -ve terminal. then touch each of the bulb contacts with the wire end. The dip and beam filaments will glow with equal brightness, proving the bulb is OK. If both filaments are working then YOU know by elimination it is the circuit of the main beam which has the problem. A likely source of the problem is the electrical contacts within the light switch, which selects dip or beam. You see it is one power wire from the battery which is diverted to either the dip or beam filament within the switch. Dirty contacts within the switch prevent the current flowing, thats what Airhead is suggesting to you. Testing the bulb as above will confirm the bulb is in good order.

Do seatbelts work,
Trouble is there's no clues to whats going on other than a high speed impact/ejection Was he/she wearing a belt in the first place? is this a belt failure or the result of no belt? Was this a passenger (front or rear) or driver? Clearly ejected from the vehicle, did they survive the mutliple injuries (you tend not to walk away from aerial flight at crash momentum!) Did anyone survive? An impressive/devastating crash video but videos like this always create unanswered questions. welcome to the world of the dashcam! Did anyone spot the meteor top right?.......no only kidding!

Barn find dt 250 1978 restoration
I have a question:- if you're planning on a total strip down, How important is it to get it going? is it worth the risk or are you just trying to satisfy your curiosity? what will it prove.....especially when its been standing for a while. Have you put it new oil and cleaned the moving parts, because if you don't and you start it ......you might cause more problems. You're scared you might fry something, I'd be more concerned you might damage a few parts in your attempt. I'd forget it,............. just strip it properly, restore it and then start it.

what would your wife say !

However, UpYours.......I'm intrigued why you are asking the question of if we remember it? Whats the story? Did you get a telephone installed? did you marry her? shag her?.......divorce her? come on U Yrs.....we want to know....................well i do!

Number plate size
That all depends if you get stopped! In the first instance.........have you ever had a cop car behind you? personaly i rarely SEE a cop these days, let alone a squad car!! It would seem that unless you have a high police presence in your area, you're not likely have one behind you! Thereagain, if you draw attention to yourself:- speeding, dangerous riding etc etc then you can expect to be pulled, and if they pull you over , they will no doubt have a look at your bike then. I might be in the minority........ but i've been riding since 1978 i've only ever been pulled over by a cop once.......... and that was in 1978..!!

new voltage regulator wiring
Take a look at my DT175 12v conversion post, where i used a Honda Cub regulator/rectifier. I disconnected the rectifier and used the combined one to replace both. Not all have 7 wires. take a look at post 21 The original 6v DT rectifier is only 2 wires and the regulator is only 1 wire (earthed through the casing) A minimal combined unit would have 4 connections (one being the earth)

new voltage regulator wiring
It might be one of those combined regulator/rectifiers, similar to the one i used on the DT175MX 12v conversion. One side is the reg the other side is the rectifier. Edit:- yeah, just looked on ebay.....loads of them available listed as regulator/rectifier

New old Yamaha owner
Welcome Rj I too had friends witha C50, SS50 5 speed, an FS1E ........but not a Puch maxi 2 speed! for a minute there I thought you might be one of my old mates!! In my opinion you can't beat an older bike, I've got 2. I've owned my 400/4 since 83/4, fell in love with one in 76, but I was only 15 then! My first bike was a 61 lambretta, whilst my mates had the above bikes. Like you, we went everywhere on them and came back equally smelly , it was as you say a fantastic time. Once again welcome to the club, i second Airheads comment; great intro, look forward to hearing more from you.......

Highly skilled Excavator operator
Amazing!, You have to admire the skill of the excavator guy. The stuck guy in the blue jacket has a lot of faith in the bucket operator, who is obviously extremely competent at operating this machinery!!
