  1. Looks good mate I'm hoping to get out on my Cat for a bit today. Here she is: My Bikepics Page
  2. Yes he is and the parts are not cheap. As long as the engine is sound then there shouldn't be a problem. Just get it looking vaguely presentable and go ride it. It'll get trashed soon enough anyway so there's not much point getting it mint.
  3. I live in Hertfordshire so if you're ever down this way I'll come out for a ride.

The reason it's not loud is because all the sound dampening is in the collector box underneath the bike which means that no matter what you do with slip-on GP cans, it wont sound any louder. If you can remove that and fabricate some kind of a link pipe then it'll be loud.

Apparently, my 600R has around 20 miles left once the fuel light comes on. Obviously I haven't put that to the test but it has lasted me well so far.

To be honest, I've filled up at a lot of places including supermarkets and not really noticed a difference in how the bike runs. I generally fill up Shell stations but use normal 95RON. I've had 120 miles to the fuel light on £10 of fuel.

There's a chance the the power dropped because it was supermarket fuel which is generally of a lower standard than other places. I only use fuel from a reputable source and have not noticed any differentiation in power when comparing Regular and Super Unleaded. If you want a good Super Unleaded, give Shell Optimax a go. That can be as high as 101 RON and burns well.
  8. Wouldn't bother mate. The CDI restriction only affects the servo driven models which only came into the market in 1996 so it'll do sod all for you. Even the servo driven models are not affected much. Best thing is to get a DEP system or hollow your stock one out as the exhaust is a very big restriction. Remove the airbox snorkel, rejet and you'll be well away.
  9. 1989, that'll be the first of the DTRs. Get the carb off and give it a thorough cleaning, not forgetting all the tubes as well because there's one which looks like an overflow which actually isn't. That might help. Might be an idea to get some carb cleaner and spray it into the HT cap and try and give that a good clean to make sure there is a decent contact. Failing that, whereabouts are you based? If you're reasonably local I might be able to have a look into it for you.

That aimed at me? If so then I've got somewhere in the region of 27600 miles on her. Bought with 25000 in September.

No question about it, DT all the way.
  12. What year is the bike?

What else is good besides the Diablo then? Bearing in mind the Cat is substantially heavier than the R6 and as a result, handles a bit crap compared to my old SM. I've heard nothing but good about the 014 but obviously I don't speak from experience in that department. How about the Avon Viper?
  14. That is correct.

I've got a Pirelli Diablo on the rear of my Cat which I find gives sufficient traction even in the winter. Going to be trying some BT-014s when I get some spare cash. Recommended oil is Silkolene Pro 4 which I will be using soon.

I think you might have dropped it
  17. Looks like a 1982 YZ250.
  18. At the mo I'm still trying to persuade someone to let me ride their R6 but I have had the pleasure of riding a 1998 SRAD. That was absolutely insane. So far nothing I've ridden has surpassed the power that thing had. From what I can remember, it had a Micron Can, Stage 2 Dynojet and a K&N Filter Element.
  19. You wont go wrong with a WR. They're supposed to be very capable off road and they're pretty light too. Power of the 250 may become a bit of an issue so I'd opt for the 450 personally.
  20. According to the manual, you'll have a Mikuni VM26SS carb with a main jet size of 210 as standard. Based on that, I would probably upjet to around 220-230 with the airbox mod. Obviously double check that when you have the carb out. You should be able to get these jets from most decent bike shops.
  21. OK, seat off and you'll find the airbox snorkel. Pull that off and that's one done. Then you turn your attention to the exhaust which leaves a couple of options. You can either buy the DEP system or gut the stock one. Go up one or two jet sizes and you're almost done. There should be a green/black wire somewhere around the headstock which you need to earth out somewhere on the frame as well.

Should find it revs harder. Definitely improves performance.

Yeah it's not bad. Quite like it because at low RPM it has a deep warble but when you open her up she sounds like a track bike and bugger me is she loud.

Drain your fuel tank and replace with fresh fuel. It goes stale after some time and you wont get it running if it wont ignite.
  25. I don't believe they are electronically restricted so don't go chopping wires. The only restrictor I'm aware of is a plastic throttle restrictor which limits the amount of throttle movement there is. Take out the throttle slider and remove this to gain full throttle action and you should be alright.
